What do y'all reccommend as a starting programming language for a n00b? C++?

Yeah, Java or C# are good for beginners who are looking for easy results

If you want to have fun, then Python ( http://www.python.org ). If you want to learn a language that it is used in the industry, then look at Java, C++, or C#.

Plus, there's the sticky at the top of this section.

I would suggest C# or VB.NET. Check out http://learnvisualstudio.net for some great video content for beginning programmers.
