Today I got employment at a company I worked for last year. I pretty sure I'll get to stay there the during the following months as far as December hopefully.

Still haven't gotten my XP licence. I'm 90% sure I'll get it on monday.

Other than that. My mockups are still not done for LE5.1. I'm still working on/checking whether the royal shading is correct or not. It's pretty good right now but I want it to be prefect in this final version. There are a lot of other stuff I still haven't started working on that will have to be updated, for example tabs and scrollbars. I was also thinking about creating a new cool login sound, that will be played when Windows starts. That might not happen but it would be cool. :)

Just my 2 cents on the start menu. I think the whole Vista only text thing is really dumb. It's the one thing I don't like about the new Vista UI. It really makes no sense and takes longer to associate the button with the icon, the text only is even worse. Microsoft nailed it with the XP menu.

Calm down guys. I will test it, with the user name at least. Might look weak otherwise. If it doesn't look as good as I would have hoped it's back to the default menu design.

I too didn't like the right pane without icons at first, but then I saw this theme and then I thought it actually looked pretty clean.

I can't test it until next week though.

I modded my LE5 to the new startpanel.

I've got mixed feelings about it, I like it with the icons.

Havent tried it with the username but will do that.

But I still really like the "normal" startpanel very much, so I hope you will make the new startpanel as an alternative version if you are implementing it.

I have a version with the new one mixed with the old one as well.

That looks nice to :)

I hope this all made sence :p

I'm back to the unmodded version before I get used to the new one, the all the joy will be gone before it's even released :p

    • My son is in Monaco right now, and I was checking his location in Apple's Find My app. I noticed that Prince Albert's Palace was blurred out on the satellite imagery in both Find My and Apple Maps. I checked Google Maps, and the palace wasn't blurred there. Does Apple have some kind of process where property owners can request that their homes be blurred on Apple Maps?
    • No, it was THAT ugly and I’d rather forget it completely existed.
    • There is a lot of reasons not to use Edge but faster fixes and security updates is not one of them.
    • Can't reproduce. I installed Edge, went to neowin.net > accepted the cookie consent > used menu to go to forums, everything loads and I can browse around the forums. If you can't interact with the dialog on the forums for some reason, go to the main site and accept the cookie consent there? It is true that the site will not function properly until the cookie consent is accepted or rejected,. it's a legal requirement and I also know that certain VPN/ad blockers block it, which is a user related issue and not a neowin.net problem.   This is not our cookie consent dialog. Gotta love browser hijacking... /s Edit: this may be what Californians see, I will confirm with our consent provider.
