You know...I'll probably get flamed for this, *but*...

It's pretty assinine to lead people on for 4 months, over the span of 122 pages, just so you can go "Oh well, sorry, nevermind, decided not to do it after all, live with it", the whole time responding very glibly and with probably one of the cockiest attitudes I've seen *any* theme creater have since the launch of XP so many years ago. I know good and well you do this in your free time, and ask for no compensation, but christ, can you at least drop the attitude? Em3, you do outstanding work, but after flipping thru this entire thread, all you've left me with is the desire to toss everything I've downloaded of yours in the recycling bin.

You created a theme, not cured cancer. Deflate that ego and come back to to earth with the rest of us. Those that have supported your work and heaped praises on you over the years deserve at least a little common decency and respect.

Luna Element 5.0 is still an amazing, polished theme. I try other themes and the 5.1 update briefly but always go back to LE5 Black Compact. It's disappointing that the black theme won't be updated but it's not like there's anything wrong with the old one. If you really want LE5.1 done in black why not take the time to do it yourself, and be the only person to have it. Won't that be special.

Attitude?, yea, look who's talking.

Maybe it's your lack of understanding, not my words but my situation? Creating a theme and releasing it... Once it's out people will start requesting/expecting more... a compact taskbar alternative, a compact startmenu alternative, at least 3 different start buttons, 10 colors, etc. And when they don't get one of those things they create a post much like yours. Because they can't accept nor respect the authors decisions. I deserve to be treated with respect as does everyone else, but to give disappointing news to anyone is never easy, and I am probably not perfect with the words. Sorry for that.

You may not know but it's not easy to create a black (gray shade) theme, that looks good (or any theme for that matter). :p It is a challenge, one that I'm not ready for yet apparently since it's not completed already. I've never said I won't release this theme, only that it won't be released for XP. You never know if someone is kind enough to port it from Vista though once it's completed though. :shifty:

You've created this situation yourself. You're the one that made the blanket statement that no permission for mods will be given, and frequently refer to this when private mods are mentioned or shown in your theme threads. You don't want the hassle of making 3 different start buttons, 10 colors, etc, then DON'T. Let others do it. Open it up to modification, if you have no further interest in doing XP themes. Don't flatter yourself and think that I'm whining for the update; I'm certainly not. While I've used your themes in the past, I no longer do, since I have to respect a person to use their work. I just find it rude and obnoxious for a person to string fans along for 4 months, with barely a response to any sort of timeframe. I'll be quite happy to stick with other themes from artists such as KoL, whom actually seem to respect those that appreciate their work. I wish you the best, and hope you get a reality check sometime soon.

lol, but judging by my wallet I do

Ahahaha! Nice one!

em3 if you were to (hypothetically) make LE5.1 Black for Vista, what would it have that the XP version wouldn't? Would it implement transparency? Would it be a VS or WindowsBlinds? Exactly how different would it look from the default Aero skin? Just wondering ;)

VS or WB? I wanna use VS but I'm not sure it's possible yet.

Yes, transparency for sure. I've actually made a new window frame concept I wanna try out. Tried it in WB but I don't like using glass without the background blur, it's too hard to see the captionbars.

As for Aero resemblance. Well, I guess we'll see. But my goal is that the difference should be just as obvious as the difference between LE5.1 and Luna.

Since the demand for the black version is obviously huge I could possibly release a public beta version of the black style in this thread, even though I don't feel comfortable releasing unfinished stuff.

EDIT. Only grammar. :p

There is only one way to beat peer pressure.... give in!

People like your work or they wouldn't ask. Release it.. and tell the plebes fix the bugs themselves.

.... oh yeah.. I like it to.

Thanks alot em3 that would be pretty cool, have been waiting on this for a while, I'm sure it will look great.

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
