EliteMarine924001
Well, I have these speakers (Logitech z5500's), and I am only able to use analog with my motherboard, (Asus P5Gd2 Premium). It has optical and coaxl, but my motherboard uses cmedia, and it uses its own decoder or something. So there is a delay with every piece of sound, short sounds dont get played, and when there is no sound, it says no digital data untill its played, and it says digital., and with analoug it works perfect. I have called both logitech and asus, and no help. Can someone please help me beause my motherboard costed lots, lol, and i wanna use its sound card. But, it still does the same thing, It wont let me disable the decoder.. :( Will analoug on this motherboard be better than coaxl on an audigy 4 pro? Cuz i might get one if i cant ever figure this mobo out. l77Il7H
most people prefer to run in analog mode. i think it's best to stick with analog. i am certain you can't tell the difference in quality, if any. EliteMarine924001
I can not afford it. If i use analog, is it best to use direct connection for games and movies and music? what is direct connection, surround sound? kenetik
Your mobo prolly came w/ a cd that has the C-Media decoder software.. mine runs Xear 3D software and you have to enable the SPDIF Output from that control panel. Also make sure its enabled in the BIOS, pm me if you need more help. gummyz
well another sound card may not fix it. I had my HDA X-Mystique digital coax out to my Z-5500 with that same problem (delay in sounds on initial play). I recently switched to X-Fi and I'll check and see if the same issue exists (I'm now using analog with that card since the digital outputs only support 2.1 - from what I remember) I ignored this issue since most of the time (so no fix from me), I'm playing sounds consistently and not just sounds of a few seconds. So when I used winamp, there was a small delay in the sound but once played and switching from track to track, there was no delay issue. Games also didn't have this issue once the game was started up. Once the actual digital signal was sent to my Z-5500, there were no more delays on any sounds that were produced Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/431531-help-with-onboard-digital-with-z5500s/#findComment-587298983 Share on other sites
