Task Manager Error

Recommended Posts

In my task manager under the processes tab the labels that tell you the process name, CPU usage and ram usage are all missing and the box is stretched real wide (scrollbar on bottom is real long). I've already tried taking a good taskmgr.exe from a different WinXP Sp2 machine but the problem is still there. I also tried reshacking the taskmgr.exe to fix the process tab, but didn't find anything like what I was looking for. I've tried changing the theme to Luna and windows classic but that doesn't work so maybe a uxtheme.dll problem?

A screenshot is attached.

First, This is just a suggestion. It may or may not work.

Now, Get your XP Installation CD handy.

Now go to Start --> Run.

In the Run box, Type "sfc /scannow". (minus the quotes of course).

Let it scan. It'll ask for your installation CD at some point to replace any changed (corrupted) files to the original ones from the CD.

Now, all this does is check for the DEFAULT windows system files and replaces them w/ a fresh copy from the Windows XP Installation CD if they are not consistent w/ the default.

Good luck. Hope it helps.

The separators for the columns have just gotten pushed way over. Slide the bar to the right to find one and drag it back. Do the same with the rest. Approach them delicately with the mouse and separate any 2 that have merged.
