Who _should've_ won the dunk contest?

Recommended Posts

Ok, for those of you who watched the All-star Dunk Contest last night (for those who didn't, check this site out to view videos), who do you think _should've_ won the dunk contest... Nate Robinson or Andre Iguodala? IMO, Andre, by far. First off, he executed his dunks in the first or second tries... whereas Nate looked as if he didn't know how to dunk, missing about 24 total.

Second, I liked Andre's creativity a lot more. All of Nate's dunks were average... in fact, if you regularly watch NBA games, or saw the Rookie challenge last night, you'd see that Andre and friends easily completed the dunks (in game, and made them on the first try) that Nate attempted... and got rediculously high scores for. Were they sympathetic because it took him 14 tries? Or was it because he was short?

Did you see that AI pass to AI, for Andre's second dunk of the first round? That was _beautiful_! That was a well deserved, highly creative and well-executed straight-ten 50 point dunk.

And how about the dunk-off? Andre's was creative... Nate's was average (a short guy jumping over a short guy), and I was surprised he made it on the first try. And how about the judges... did you see the one with a ten put up his ten, then look around, and put it down for a nine? What was up with that? That should've been illegal. IMO, not five judges should've voted... the crowd should've. Did you hear the crowd booing when they gave Andre such a low score for his dunk (and changed it, too)? Rightfully so. And how about when the award presenter told the crowd to "give it up for our winner, Nate Robinson!"... Silence. Sure, Nate is a great dunker, which is why he got here. But he was no competition to Andre, and it shouldn't have even been a dunk-off.

So, who do _you_ think should've won it... Nate or Andre? Nate won it, but even the people who voted for who's 50-point dunk (online) was better voted for Andre.

Maybe Andre should've jumped over Dr. J... yeah, that's it! Then he would've won. At least he won the Rookie Challenge MVP award (well deserved). Hopefully he will come back next year and whoop their butts.

And hopefully they can find another judging system, and let the crowd be the judge, because, ultimately, this was to please the crowd, not the judges. :)

well I'll guess I'll be the first one to bite the bullet and admit that I clicked this thread because I read it "Who _should've_ won the drunk contest?"

I am very saddened by my subconcious...

LMAO

Well I think if Andre saved his AI assisted dunk for the final he would have won easily. And I'd have to agree with BOOG about the creativity in the final. Andre's preliminary round dunks were spectacular but his final round dunks were seen before. Nate's double through the legs thing was insane. Personally, I don't like the no penalty for missing rule myself but since that IS the rule, based on those parameters I think Nate deserved it. I think they need to limit it to maybe five chances per dunk though.

was it even that exciting to watch? i haven't watched a dunk competition in like 3 years...when creativity stopped. i don't think there's any original dunks left to be done.

The Andre Iguodala dunk from the AI pass from behind the goal was amazing IMO.

sure the pass from iverson was spectacular, thus it advanced him to the final round. but from then on his dunks were all the same, under the leg, even from advice from kobe, still under the leg. nate had the crowd going, his height did give him credit, but hey, brining out spudd was creative, so was his other dunks. yes i would agree he made too many attempts, but i wanted to see if he couldve did it, and he "kinda" did, so id give this one to nate

I think Andre should've got more points on the last dunk, but honestly Nate had a better performance. Nate = 5'9, Andre = 6'9. :|

See what I mean? It was biased towards height! Who cares about height... this wasn't a dunk contest for shorties or tall guys, it was for excellent dunkers. I think the dunk over Webb was cool, but it was just a dunk that, again, Andre and other players can do in-game. It was average, IMO.

Andre should have kept the off-the-board dunk till the end, that would've won him the title.

he couldnt, i believe the final rounds he cant have another player as support

but, if the judge didnt change score, theyd be even, and igoudala wouldve done another under the leg

    • Most boring game ever. Repetitive, empty, predictable, and full of cliches. Total waste of time and money, IMO.
    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.
