SI.com -- Dolphins' running back Ricky Williams has again tested positive for drug use, according to the Miami Herald, a violation that could result in a one-year suspension under the league's substance abuse policy.

The Herald cited two sources saying that Williams tested positive for a fourth time, but neither would disclose what substance Williams used. He had tested positive for marijuana on three previous occasions.

Marijuana use was a major contributor in Williams walking away from football in 2004, just days before the start of Dolphins' training camp.

He returned to the NFL last season, and was forced to sit out the first four games and was fined four weeks pay for his second and third substance abuse violations.

The 1998 Heisman winner also tested positive in December 2003 and in the '04 offseason.

Williams rushed for 743 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games this season, ending a streak of four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.

They should make it a four-year suspension, so that the punishment is actually something people would fear. They are paid a hell of a lot of money to be professional athletes, if they can't stay clean for the duration of their career then they shouldn't be allowed to play - once they have retired they'll then have the time and the money to do a many drugs as they like.

he is a bum, I think its a year suspension for the 4th time. I think it should be longer you have to be pretty stupid to get caught 4 times. It might be just weed but if he is dumb enough to keep doing it and getting caught, he deserves anything he gets.

The penalty is harsh enough.

The only reason he came back in the first place was because the Dolphins threatened to take him to court to take some of his signing bonus back. He much prefers marijuana to football.

He used to mask it, though. I guess he forgot again...

Yes, both a harsher penalty, and also if one is tested multiple times for drug use like him, I think the penalties should also progressively be harsher as well.

They are. The first time I think you get placed into the program, and from then on it goes to a 4-game suspension and to a full season.

Ricky should've gotten a full season last time, but he somehow got away with only being suspended for 4 games.

I know marijuana is illegal but being banned for life for it is harsh..considering the effects of the drug in comparison to smoking or alcohol.

These guys get a paid a king's ransom to play a child's game. There are millions of Americans that have to follow the same rules (company drug policies) and we don't make sh!t compared to what these guys are making. I am sick and tired of athletes bitching about sh!t like this, and even more tired of people backing them up. :angry:

So. People no matter the profession make bad decisions concerning drugs and alcohol. The money doesn't matter. I get tired of people expecting people to make better decisions concerning the lives than regular people just because they make more money.

Why does money matter? Rickey Williams was most likely smoking weed in college when he didn't have money. So to him smoking weed was more of priority than following the rules concerning recreational drugs. Also he has his right to due process under the collective bargaining agreement. He has his rights you know. I wasn't talking about rock stars or actors. I've seen regular people with 9-5 jobs drink or smoke away their jobs. If they can make bad decisions of 40k jobs, I can see people making those same kind of decisions mess up 4 million dollar jobs. What about Eddie Sutton? He wrecked his SUV will under the influence of alcohol. He also entered the Betty Ford Center for alcoholism while coaching at Kentucky. Speaking of Betty Ford, she was an alcoholic. If a Hall of Fame coach who is a real role model and the First Lady of the US can have addictions, anybody can no matter their walk of life. That is why I said money doesn't matter.

I can add to that list the names of lawyers, politicians, doctors and any other high paying profession.

That has nothing to do with my argument about athletes and the money they make and the rules they should follow (like many of us do). I am well aware that all walks of life are involved with drugs & alcohol.

      Looks like EA's Star Wars Zero Company will be out this August by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Over a year ago, EA surprise announced that a team of former Firaxis members is working on a brand-new Star Wars game. Dubbed Zero Company, the title would have XCOM-like turn-based tactics gameplay as players manage a squad of professionals from all over the galaxy. Now, just ahead of an official announcement, it looks like the release date has leaked out. The upcoming Summer Game Fest presentation on Friday is when EA is supposed to show off the title's gameplay footage, with fans also expecting it to reveal a release date. However, the ever-reliable billbil-kun from Dealabs says they have already managed to find out when the game is coming out and what versions fans will have the option of purchasing. Per the leak, Star Wars Zero Company has an August 27, 2026, release date attached to it. The title is slated to release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 with a $49.99 standard and $59.99 Deluxe edition. The leaker also adds that there won't be any early access perk attached to this special edition. Pre-orders could kick off alongside the official announcement this Friday, too. For those unfamiliar with the title, Bit Reactor is developing Star Wars Zero Company with help from Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. The EA-published title is said to be set during the "twilight of the Clone Wars." We will have to wait and see if base building and management mechanics from the XCOM series will be present here, too. "You will step into the shoes of Hawks, a former Republic officer who leads Zero Company — an unconventional outfit of professionals for hire hailing from across the galaxy," reads the game description. "Hawks and Zero Company are recruited for an operation that pits them against an emerging threat that will consume the galaxy if left unchecked. To succeed, Hawks will lead a team of uneasy allies who must set aside their differences to overcome nearly impossible odds."       New dev usually means more trash. I also despise that they censored the 1 remake.
