Latest Japanese Hardware Sales

Woah... Steady on there

Just saying that the game is not widely known.

Critical acclaim does not always translate to good sales. Take Beyond Good and Evil for example... Fantastic game.

Reviewers creamed over it yet it was a failure for ubisoft.

Least i was basing my point on the people who actually buy the games.

Comparing LBP to MGS4 is amusing...

Do you honestly think the Japanese PS3 sales will increase seven-fold the week LBP is released. (Even triple in number) ?

The game is not widely known?

It's probably the most talked about new game around. That doesn't mean everyone and his dog knows about it, hence some of friends not in the loop. But I counter that with two things

a) Not much marketing has been done for the title, due to release not being until October.

b) The developers themselves, while having shown off a lot at GDC07/08, still haven't shown off large portions of the game, or explained how they will work.

I believe LBP will easily outsell MGS4, and I believe it's a title that will sell hardware more than MGS4 has.

It appeals to a far wider range of gamers than MGS does, and there is nothing like it out now, or coming out. Games like Spore have the character creation elements, but unlike LBP, the whole game isn't based around creation.

Just curious... What have they left to show us?

I havent been following it too closely but so far i have seen...the creation of a sack boy, level design and walkthrough, creating objects, physics manipulation, enemies, effects of various materials, using PS3 Camera, youtube upload feature...etc.

wow... guess we'll have to wait and see.

we are still talking about japan right?

No, it's not the most talked about game around. Not even close. It's not even the most talked about game on this board, and we're far more oriented for that kind of talk than the general market. The only place I ever seem to hear anything about LBP is, to be honest, from you. Oh and now this one commercial, but it's centered around the PS3 and also two other games and doesn't really advertise for LBP much (it's the one with the "We the few, we band of brothers" speech [or something along those lines], though I don't know if it's showing in Europe).

It's not going to sell as well as you think.

Ok we'll see.

I have these posts archived

All I've said so far is it will sell more than MGS4, and I have no doubts it will.

Yeah, I know, I'm the only one on the whole web who talks about LBP.

Well if you turn out right, and I ever travel to Scotland, I'll be sure to buy you a cookie :p

Out of interest, what predictions do you guys have then? If you're that confident on what it's not going to do, tell me what it is.

Yeah, I know, I'm the only one on the whole web who talks about LBP.

Was kinda laughing at that, since you are the only guy I 'know' who talks about this game. I rarely see a thread, post or even a mention of the game anywhere else

But that'll change and I agree with your predictions, this game appeals to a lot more gamers.

Although I'd like to make on thing clear, I'm going to avoid that game like the plague, hate colourful we-are-all-hugging-and-kissing games. ( Kinda like Viva Pi?ata )

Well you guys clearly don't read a lot of gaming related content on the net.

I'm the only one who talks about LBP?: Yeah, ok.

What has that got to do with LBP?

Do you hate platformers?

1) Everything? I'm sure we are talking about the game with little knitted creatures, waving, smiling and jumping around like a bunch of A.D.D kids, solving puzzles and generally being a pain in the ass?

God, I'd rather gauge out my eyes with a fork than playing a game like that.

2) Yes.

Oh well gutted to be you, that you take such a shallow outlook on a game such as LBP.

Guess we won't see/hear you discussing or talking about it anymore.

Yeah, such a shame when not everyone likes the games you do :(

But I might still pop by to say hello, when there's something to discuss.

Why bother, spend your time talking about things you like, instead of going on about things you don't.

I think it'll sell decent, but to say it'll sell more than MGS seems ridiculous to me, considering that many PS3 owners bought their PS3 mainly for MGS4, and if not that, it was mainly for GT5, GTA4, or FF13 or a combination of those, or for Bluray. LBP currently has the feel of a PSN game (XBLA equivalent) and not a full-fledged game and that's why I don't think it'll sell as well as any of the aforementioned games. But it'll sell well enough if they market it well. I just don't think people will be going out of their way to get the game.

Can I ask if you've actually paid any attention to LBP what so ever?

PSN game or XBLA equivalent?

Ok.

Ok.

I didn't say it was an equivalent (I know it's not), I just said the way it's currently being presented, it seems like not a big deal, in the same way that PSN/XBLA games are not generally a big deal. MGS4, GT5, GTA4, FF13 - those are kind of a big deal and LBP pales in comparison to them.

LBP is changing gaming far more than any of those titles are.

All of them are iterating on previous titles, with better graphics/sounds and in most cases better gameplay.

However LBP is completely new, and if everything they've told us works like it will or better, nothing like it has been done/seen on a console before.

I'm sorry, but you guys must be blind if you can't see that. Or else you haven't really been following LBP, and are making your own assumptions off your own beliefs.

I think you're just seeing what you want to see because you go out of your way to find info on this game. Those who don't go out of our way like most of the market hasn't heard of the game much because it's not being marketed. It's not a big deal, at least not yet.

Go out my way?

Nah not really, I follow the game as it's coming on a platform I own. A fair bit of the title has been shown/talked about in gaming events. Sony are classing it as one of their killer apps of 2008.

We'll see how marketing ramps up nearer to release, and how the gaming world reacts at E3/future gaming shows.

I'll happily wait this one out.

Wow this things getting heated up eh? It's like someone insulted your mother or something. Calm down people. Just wait to see how good it does or doesn't do when it's released.

@AudioBoxer - I would love to see this game through your eyes for once... but I dont touch drugs though.

Particularly, Nothing Ear (a) and CMF Buds Pro 2 wireless earbuds have dropped to their lowest price ever with limited Prime deal offering 33% and 24% discounts, respectively. Nothing Ear (a) are equipped with 11mm dynamic drivers featuring a PM1 + TPU diaphragm. For noise control, the earbuds offer active noise cancellation (ANC) of up to 45dB across frequencies reaching 5,000Hz. The smart ANC algorithm adapts to surrounding noise levels, while a Transparency Mode allows users to remain aware of their environment when needed. Connectivity is handled via Bluetooth 5.3, with support for AAC, SBC, and LDAC audio codecs. Additional features include IP54-rated earbuds for dust and splash resistance, paired with an IPX2-rated charging case. Furthermore, users also benefit from pinch controls, in-ear detection, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, dual-device connectivity, and a low-latency mode designed for gaming and video playback. The Nothing X app unlocks a range of customisation options, including a personalised equaliser, bass enhancement, control remapping, ear tip fit testing, firmware updates, dual-device management, a Find My Earbuds feature, and low-latency mode settings. When it comes to the battery, the earbuds house a 46mAh lithium-ion battery, while the charging case contains a 500mAh cell. With ANC disabled, users can expect up to 9.5 hours of playback from the earbuds and up to 42.5 hours in total with the charging case. With ANC enabled, battery life is rated at up to 5.5 hours per charge and up to 24.5 hours combined with the case. Finally, fast charging is also supported that should provide up to 10 hours of playback from a 10-minute charge with ANC turned off. Nothing Ear (a) Wireless Earbuds (Black): $53.20 (Amazon US) - 33% The CMF Buds Pro 2 feature a dual-driver audio system consisting of an 11mm bass driver and a 6mm micro-planar tweeter. They further support active noise cancellation of up to 50dB across a frequency range of up to 5,000Hz, and noise control features include a Smart ANC algorithm, Adaptive ANC, Transparency Mode, and Clear Voice Technology 2.0. For calls, the CMF Buds Pro 2 use a total of six microphones and feature an environmental noise-cancelling algorithm, Clear Voice Technology 3.0, and Wind Noise Reduction 3.0 that should improve voice clarity during conversations.
