Latest Japanese Hardware Sales

Recommended Posts

Why is the 360 still selling so low numbers? The Japanese market doesn't seem to be suited for that console.

Well, it's actually doing better than many thought it would, last week it had a nice jump, this week it's back down to around it's average. Sure it's low compared to the Wii and DS, but hell, even the PS3 isn't doing super great either.

Now that it's starting to get more games out in Japan and more Japanese dev games, like RPGs etc, it's sales are slowly going higher on average per week I'd say.

What used to be in the 2-3k a week range, then went to 5-6k, now it's been over 7k and higher quite often.

I wouldn't be surprised if it pushes over 10k per week as an average for next year. This though depends on what other games MS can get out there that the region likes.

Still, compared to the original, MS is doing a good job, slow and steady.

Shame about the game though :/

God damn Square making us wait till FF before they get their best titles out.

ps. No PS2 numbers this week Alpha?

What's wrong with LR? I haven't played it yet, I started playing IU, which others didn't score well in reviews but I like regardless, once you get the hang of the battle system.

Same thing with LO before, average or a bit low review scores but I really liked it. I'll still get LR regardless of the review scores out there it seems.

So it looks like the 360 is staying up over 10k still. Not great compared to the others, but still a good jump for MS. They don't really have to win in japan, coming 3rd is fine since the video game market is so big today. They just need to get 1mil+ units sold for all the devs to jump on. They should be getting there soon if not by the end of this year, then by January I bet.

So probably a bit longer than a few months if it's only doing around 10k - Although we'll see what happens at Christmas.

To be honest, I only really forsee a couple of million on the XBOX 360. If MS is smart, they'll make their next console backwards compatible, and push 360 games into the next generation, which will hopfully push the third XBOX into a decent sales bracket.

I think it will be, I don't think MS will change the basic arch of the Xbox again, just beef it up. Instead of 3 cores it'll have 6, and probably 2 GPUs like top of the line PC gfx cards do now. And loads of ram etc. This keeps the devs happy since they have more resources to work with but don't have to learn anything new. If you've already coded your game engine to run on 3 cores, and it's multithreaded, then moving it up to a 6 core system or dual GPU setup should be automatic or very very easy.

That's how I'd do it anyways.
