Create partition without hurt current os

I currently have two hard drives; c: is for my os and d: is for all my personal files. I have windows xp on my c: and i want to know if i can create a partition on the c: drive without damaging my current xp. I want to use part of the c drive to test another os so i obviously need to partitionthe drive. Bascially i dont want to have to reformat because it will take a lone time to have to reinstall all of my programs again. Thanks

PowerQuest PartitionMagic claims it can do it, I never tried it myself though

works great, you dont need to format the hdd.

partition magic is the way to go as i have tried it so many times and it never fails me.

In either case, just make sure you defrag first
