Want to block access to certain websites

Recommended Posts

i'm running win serv 2000 and ISA Server.

Basically there is people accessing certain websites they shouldn't, so i want to be able to block them from accessing these sites.

is ther a way using win serv or ISA that i can create a list of sites i want to be blocked, and they actually be blocked???

help appreciated.

I have a Linksys wmp54gs wifi router, using HyprWRT 2.1b1 + Thibor 14 firmware, and that firmware adds a section to block specific sites and URLs in the 'Internet Access' preferences. Not sure if there are other firmwares that would offer such functionality with other routers, but it's an option you could look into, and it's relatively cheap.

Here's an image of what I'm referring to.

we're on a really large network, these kind of routers are not used, there are several cabenits n stuff... it needs to be within WinSrv2k i think so it secures whole school

Yeah...sorry...didn't fully read your post before I responded. No coffee yet.

This might be more of a help.

aye already found that and some of it looks quite interesting, no money till april though, so probably gotta wait

Quick and dirty method.

Only works if you have a few site to block or have a lot of free time.

Make a DNS entry on the DNS server that redirects those sites back to your company site. So if they try go to banned-site.com they end up on the company intranet site.

Yes it's very possible to block specific sites with ISA. I dont have one in front of me right now, but it has to do with making a "destination set" which contains the sites you want to block and a site and content rule that denys access to the sites in that list...

This site should point you in the right direction --> http://www.isaserver.org
