The problem is this: Though I see it mentioned. I can't find the Greek version of Autopatcher...

I am using the Greek version of Windows XP SP2.

Should I run a Greek version of Autopatcher? Or the English version will cover me?

Hope you give some guidelines, cause I desperately need them, I am just about formating/installing Windows.

If there is not a translated version, maybe you could tell to me what should be done, and maybe I find the time to do it myself! Though I am not into programming lately, but how hard is it?

Hoping for info...

Thanks in advance.

No need to tell how importand and good your job is! Keep up people!

there hasnt been a release for several months.

you dont need to worry about programming, theres none involved.

see this thread: translation packs, wait for me to post the new march packs in a day or so, and then follow the documentation for instructions.

it may take at least a week to complete the translation, depending on how much time you put into it and how quickly i can check it to make it official.

even if this is too late for your reformat, it would really help if you could do a translation anyway, several people have asked for a new one, including someone from a greek magazine yesterday.

So. will the English version do it for me?

I mean can I install the English version of Autopatcher on Greek Windows XP?

As for the translation pack, I am busy (I am a Mathematic and this is the season that we get really busy) but why not give it a shot? It will be my first time to attempt something like this and I like the idea very much!

Greetings

PS: By the way, which Magazine was asking? Just curious... ;-)

Well, if I had Internet at home, maybe I could make one (lots of free time lately). Sadly, thats not the case yet...

I do not recall receiving any PM by any PC Magazine writer whatsoever, so I cannot comment on that :)

sorry, i didnt know you werent busy so i said not to bother sending them to you, there wasnt much to say really since we had no greek release anyway :/

i'll forward you them pm's and since heZzel seems to have one in the works, maybe it can go ahead anyway :)

I have already translated the Greek version for Autopatcher XP Feb2006 but I need instructions on how to upload it so that administrators can make it "official".

I am using a 512/128 dsl line but I might tomorrow upload it from "TUC" if I get the instruction from anyone..

thats great (Y), soon i will have the march stuff complete, so wait for the march trans pack and changelog, and incorporate the march changes into it.

chuck everything into a zip, 7z or rar file, and upload it somewhere. (send it me via yousendit.com, or upload it to megauploads or somewhere and send me the link) i'll then check it, etc...

I shall wait then for the March release and then I will send it so the Greek version of XP will have an Autopatcher...

Well, it's great to see that there are lots of as Greek guys looking out for a Greek version of Autopatcher.

Even better that one has already done the work needed...

We'll all be waiting anxiously for the official March release.

As I mentioned, I am a Mathematic and these days I have a lot of work, but in the next months I will permanently be available! (Going for a school job, so lots of time available)

So people count me in for later translations of Autopatcher!

Til then, thanks again for the fellow who did the job. We'll wait for it to become official :D

Greetings from Athens, Greece

Hey,

now that the March update of Autopatcher is out, what about the Greek Release?

Will there be any? And if so, when?

It is said that a translation pack is being prepared, is it going to be finished and released this month, or we'll have to wait some more for it?

Thanks in advance for the time and info to come.

I have completed the translation of the greek release already and everything is tested and ok.

Now TheBlazingAngel is processing the release and I hope with his help that we can make it better, and me or TheBlazingAngel will upload it somewhere as long as it is ready in the following days. I give 100% to this project and I uderstand that TheBlazingAngel has a lot of work with other releases, so it should be ready in a few days.

I want to say thanks to TheBlazingAngel for the useful help, and Pacience to the Greek guys, because we try our best for them..

I will try to post tactically about the progress we make..

Farewell

And Finally the moment comes! :|

I am very happy to inform you that the Greek Autopatcher XP has come to earth, from a far away planet!

Now of course, I think like I have walked to that planet to get it (,as i haven't slept much the last few days..), but thank god, I had TheBlazingAngel's help, for which I thank him very much!

Now i am doing the last testing and trying to find a site to upload the setup(FULL and LITE ready already).

I want to find a site where I can monitor how many times it has been downloaded, but not rapidshare because i have to split it. I am trying filefront now, but the server is maintained and i cannot upload it now. I will just wait for a while and then provide you with the link.

Keep Walking!!! :D

Thank god! Finally!!!

You really didn't take much time, it's just that I wait for a few days to make a full format and reinstall and I wanted to do that using Autopatcher for the updating of Windows.

Well count me in as on of the very first testers of the Greek Version!

As soon as the link is on, I'll download and use it in reinstalling my Windows. So I'll be reporting progress as well as using it.

OK, now how about that link? :D

Greetings

Finally, after the fix the complete version is ready. I am starting to upload it in a while and in the morning i am posting the link!

The hotfixes which are not included(depending on the fixes of AutoPatcher 2006 XP March 2006):

KB888240: Update for Internet Explorer 6

KB892313: Updates for Windows Media Player 9 and 10

KB894395: Update for Windows XP

KB895181: Fix for MPEG4 videos in Windows Media Player 10

KB896344: Update for Windows XP

There are alos included(because they are includeed in the translation pack but not in https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=444263):

KB897663

KB898458

KB902344

KB904412

KB906569

KB907865

KB912452

I am posting this because I can see that a lot of people have checked into this post and they are propably waiting for the release..

Although the Greek version is ready, I have had some problems with my dsl this week and didn't have much time to upload it. I hope on Monday morning to have it uploaded at filefront. I will make a new post so that you can post comments in... Just be patient and sorry for the long time it takes me to upload it although it is fully tested..

    • NASA: This asteroid may not kill us but it probably won't be far off either by Sayan Sen Image by Zelch Csaba via Pexels New observations by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope have eliminated the last remaining impact threat posed by asteroid 2024 YR4, ruling out the possibility that the near-Earth object could strike the Moon in December 2032. NASA said observations collected by Webb on February 18 and 26, 2026, enabled scientists to refine the asteroid's orbit enough to "rule out a chance of lunar impact on Dec. 22, 2032." Instead, asteroid 2024 YR4 is now expected to pass the Moon at a distance of about 13,200 miles (21,200 km). The agency stressed that the update "reflects improved precision in our understanding of where the asteroid is expected to be in 2032 rather than a shift in its orbital path." The announcement closes a remarkable chapter in planetary defence that began in late 2024, when the approximately 60-metre-wide asteroid briefly became the most closely watched near-Earth object in the world. Discovered on December 27, 2024, by the ATLAS telescope in Chile, 2024 YR4 initially appeared to have a small chance of colliding with Earth on December 22, 2032. As astronomers gathered more observations, the impact probability briefly climbed to around 3%—the highest ever recorded for an asteroid of its size—before steadily falling as its orbit became better understood. By early 2025, international observations had ruled out any significant risk to Earth. However, astronomers were left with another possibility: a roughly 4% chance that the asteroid could instead strike the Moon. "The probability that asteroid 2024 YR4 will strike the Moon on 22 December 2032 is now approximately 4%," the European Space Agency (ESA) had said last year, noting that "there is a 96% chance that the asteroid will not impact the Moon." ESA said such an impact, while unlikely, would have presented an extraordinary scientific opportunity. "It is a very rare event for an asteroid this large to impact the Moon – and it is rarer still that we know about it in advance. The impact would likely be visible from Earth, and so scientists will be very excited by the prospect of observing and analysing it," said Richard Moissl, Head of ESA's Planetary Defence Office. "It would certainly leave a new crater on the surface. However, we wouldn't be able to accurately predict in advance how much material would be thrown into space, or whether any would reach Earth," he added. The asteroid also exposed an important blind spot in planetary defence. Because 2024 YR4 approached Earth from the direction of the Sun, it remained hidden from ground-based telescopes until after its closest approach. "We looked into how Neomir would have performed in this situation, and the simulations surprised even us," Moissl said. "Neomir would have detected asteroid 2024 YR4 about a month earlier than ground-based telescopes did. This would have given astronomers more time to study the asteroid's trajectory and allowed them to much sooner rule out any chance of Earth impact in 2032." He added, "As an infrared telescope, like Webb, Neomir would have also immediately given us a much better estimate for the asteroid's size, which is very important for assessing the significance of the hazard." The latest NASA observations underscore the value of space-based infrared telescopes in tracking faint asteroids. According to NASA, Webb made "among the faintest ever observations of an asteroid," extending the object's observational record by nearly eight months at a time when it had become too faint for other telescopes. That additional data allowed scientists to eliminate the remaining uncertainty surrounding its 2032 flyby. Although asteroid 2024 YR4 is now confirmed to pose no threat to either Earth or the Moon, scientists say its discovery remains one of the most significant real-world tests of the international planetary defence system, demonstrating how continued observations can rapidly transform an object once considered hazardous into one whose future path is known with high confidence.
