Prefetching and Layout.ini

Why does Layout.ini in %WINDIR%\Prefetch have entries of non-existent files and folders?

For example, I have no WINDOWS-directory on G:\, but there's still tons of Windows-files and folders listed in Layout.ini that appear to be located on G:\.

However, Layout.ini also lists my real Windows-files which are located on C:\ among other existent files.

The Task Scheduler service is running and I've tried running rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks, but it didn't remove the incorrect entries for G:\.

Anyone have any idea?

Download this and run it.

It will 'rebuild' (it will not delete anything) the layout and rearrange files, by using Windows own API for it. Administrative rights required to run.
