ANova
Considering DX10 is not even out and HL? was being made for a few years on DX 9 that had been out for years as well clearly shows your understanding of the situation. These are what you can call, "preview" shots of something in development that won't even be done for another 7 months, and that's pushing it. It seems Vista's delay is what's holding Crysis back, otherwise it would release this year. The DX10 mode won't look a whole lot different than the DX9 mode but it will probably run faster since DX10 has alot of efficiency improvements. toadeater
so....you wont be able to see this eyecandy with a geforce 7 series card? Yes, you will. Minimum spec is DX9, shader rev. 2.0. Mid-range is shader rev 3.0. DX10 = OPTIONAL. Smigit
I think it would depend on what effects are there and how many are exclusive to DX10 Hardware. Most of that is available on Dx 9 but. neufuse Veteran Posted April 7, 2006 Veteran Share Posted April 7, 2006 I hate how people scream "Eww needs AA"... you guys know how the higher tech animations work now days? It takes multiple frames to get a clear shot, this one frame shot shows artifacts of the new techniques used to produce a clearer image in motion... you see outlines, fuzzyness, what looks like a lack of AA in single shots... when in motion (on screen, not necessarly when moving) you see none of this! that is why you need video for these new games, not a single shot Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/447230-hi-res-crysis-directx-10-screenshots/page/4/#findComment-587392766 Share on other sites

NextGen_Gamer
Just so you guys know, ALL of what you are seeing is possible on current hardware. DirectX 10 GPUs do not even exist yet (not even in sampling), so obviously the rendering path being used right now is DirectX 9.0c Shader Model 3.0 (it will also have a Shader Model 2.0, but nothing below that). Don't belive me? Here is the quote from the CVG.com interview: "Will it be playable at E3 and do you have any firm release date yet? Cevat Yerli: It will definitely be playable at E3 and we're shooting for winter 2006 right now. We don't have to wait until Vista ships either. Bernd Diemer Everything you've seen has been running on DX9 and normal hardware you can get in the shops right now. It's all normal spec and doesn't even use a dual processor or anything like that, we don't have any special graphical hardware inside these boxes. However, with DX10 and a dual core CPU, you're going to see something very special indeed. When we compare Far Cry to Crysis we're talking about two to three levels better in terms of generations, but if you compare DX 9 to DX10 it's at least a generation better, so there's a tangible difference, visually as well as from the intensity." So...imagine how great it will look once CryTek DOES get their hands on DX10 video cards!!!
