Ventrilo On Linux

Recommended Posts

Well hope this isn't something old, I finally figured out how to get Ventrilo on Linux through Wine. I know of this other tutorial for Cedega but that just wasnt working for me so I went to Ubuntu Forums and got my answer. Do it through Wine.

My tutorial I made can be located here

ps: Google Pages is GREAT !!

Only in one respect and that's latency. TeamSpeak sounds better (much more varied codecs), is easier to setup and use, and actually has servers and clients for both Windows and Linux, and an unofficial client for OS X, not one "in development" for several years with nothing to show a la Ventrilo.

I've never understood everyone's obsession with an inferior comms program like Ventrilo, when there are much better free alternatives out there.

Yea the only reason I need it is because all my friends have a pretty big server (and of course over and cover again I suggest teamspeak) and I dont want to be a loner :) . But everyone has there free choice I have both in which case I use teamspeak for clan and ventrilo for friendly talk. Then I use the GAIM plugin and Im good.
