is there a PHP download manager that is like many file servers like for example

Server 10

Slots : xxx/xxx

Estimated Wait Time : xx min

is there something like that for a queue since if users try downloading off my site...

I don't want the site to be slowed down dramatically...

so is there a program for this purpose?

I dont mind having to modify a little part of apache but Only for the domain in question

Downstat can do something like that. You can set it to only allow x hits per x minutes/hours/days/weeks/months/years.

thats too basic, i want one that will let 5 people download at once, as soon as one person finishes next person in queue can start downloading,

I'm pretty sure that's not possible with php alone, as it doesn't manage the http connections the webserver (apache) does. There's probably a mod available for apache that would allow you to write your own php wrapper system around it. It's plausible that someone has already done all of this and released it as Open Source, but i haven't seen it.

use anonmous ftp ;) then your not loading apache down + you can set a limit to the number of anon ftp uses..

but it only works on files below 50mb

most files are over 300mb which is the problem

what type of files are they? could you split them with an archiver?
