Hi, i have 2 computers and 1 of them cant connect to internet because it has a invalid Ip address and cant recieve an ip address. ( no wire problem or such, everything working fine) The computer with problem is running with Windows Xp pro SP2

when i did cmd// ipconfig /release and /renew . i got error that said RPC server is unavailable

im currently using a linksys router with firewall built in and i turned off the firewall. I dont think the router is the problem because this computer is just fine =D. I believe this all started after i installed norton internet security 2004 that came with my router... After i installed it, my internet stopped working, i think i need to replace a registry or something... I have uninstalled norton internet and reinstalled and uninstalled numerous times but i still cant connect to the internet. please help me.

Try Registry Mechanic. Not sure if its a free trial but you can always download it.

Try this:

click Start, click Run

in the Run box type this in:

cmd (enter)

type this command in:

netsh winsock reset catalog (enter)

it should tell you to restart your pc, restart it... then try the internet again...

If that didn't work, uninstall Norton, restart your PC, then try reinstalling Norton.
