What do u expect to happen within a year for apple based products

Recommended Posts

what does everyone think apple will have out within the next year for products (from stuff like software to hardware based stuff)

im thinking within the next year apple will have:

-a 19" G4 iMac with a 1 Ghz processor (and Nvidia Geforce 4 MX graphics card)

-discontinuation of the G3 imac

-possibility of OS 10.3

-G5 macs coming out around this time next year (still with DDR) and starting model with dual 1 ghz G5 at $1800 or so

-wishing a faster superdrive/combo drive :( but that wont happen

-PowerBook updates (maybe a G4 model)

-doubt x86 macs will be out then

-emacs lowered in price for the educational market/people who want an inexpensive computer

-hopefully price drops in powermacs/powerbooks since they are at yikey prices right now (went up $300 CDN in the last 2 years for powermac)

now what does everyone else think will happen within the next year/hope to see happen in the next year

Here's my beliefs:

1. SuperDrives in iBooks. Wish I coulda got one in mine!

2. An even bigger iPod (like it's even necessary!).

3. Old iMacs gone.

And as for an updated Powerbook (G4), thats already been done.

And there WON'T be a G5. At least it won't be called that, and it won't be made by Motorola. Mark my words, the next generation of Macs will be using IBM processors (I know, I know, the Motorolas are IBM...but you know what I mean).

If I remember right, Apple already discontinued the G3 iMac. Looking back in this board, seems you are the one who posted that bit of info.

Um...the PowerBooks already have the G4 in them. Do you mean iBook?

I doubt the x86 Macs will ever be out.

nah, its still around: http://www.apple.com/imac/g3 its a good computer for businesses (that want to save money on computers) and schools...it will be sad to see it go :(

ouch, i meant ibook, not PowerBook, i wasnt thinking when i put that lol...and i guess u didnt read the story bout the imac :p, its going to be discontinued, it hasnt been discontinued yet, as soon as the G4 imac was put onto the apple site, its been getting phased out really quietly, there used to be a graphite/blue (forget the name of it) imac also on the apple site, but the blue imac was phased out on mwny i think, and around the week when the new powermacs were released, the graphite imacs disappeared from the site..and as of mwny all the g3 imacs included a cd rom drive instead of burner

I'm willing to bet my iBook on it. A very knowledgeable little bird told me so... ;)

lol im not betting anything :p

for now it should stay at ppc but when G5 comes out maybe apple could start thinking bout x86 or something...

    • I'm not sure about that, but it at least "does" a version of 7.1 that this brand new card doesn't....

    • I can barely recall getting web results from a file search... I must've turned it off long ago. 26H2 is Insider's Preview build 26300.8697, which I am running, atm. It is not available for people running the standard commercial builds of Windows--only for the beta test Insider's group. But anyway, as mentioned in the thread, this feature has been around for a long time...
    • Speak for yourself. I saw it on Feedly, came here to read it, and did read it until the steps to activate. I skipped them to read the last paragraph. I knew it was probably not "the most requested feature", but knowing Neowin, I knew the article was going to talk about a feature nonetheless. I've seen Neowin in its best and worst.
