A draw won't do much for the US, they need to win if they want to go the 2nd round.

If we tie today, we need to beat Ghana and have Italy beat Czech Repub. If that happens, we advance with Italy having 7 pts, US having 4, Czech and Ghana having 3.

Congrats to USA for defending against that with an extra man down! I also feel sorry for that guy that was elbowed... the Italy guy was well out of order. As for the ref... I think he was one of the best of the tournament - very fair in an INCREDIBLY difficult match to watch over. All refs so far have been very strict with the cards and the USA red card was justified because it was a second yellow card offense - I praise him for being so fair.

I can't say I was a fan of the US always trying to constantly play the offside trap, though it is a legitimate tactic. Still, great game... the most exciting so far. The way the US played at the beginning I thought they were going to walk it but it turned around so quickly.

And it's over, tie game. The winners are the USA, imho, as Italy should have one that no problem. What I find sad, is that the US still has not scored a goal for themselves.

You can keep talking trash about the US, but you cannot deny that the US played one hell of a game today. Even down to 9 players, they attacked and actually scored a goal that was disallowed (he never touched the ball, so the goal should have been allowed).

Congrats to the US for one heck of a game. In my honest opinion, they showed that they can play with the "big boys" of the world and this tie still has everyone in the hunt for a spot in the 2nd round.

they need to win if they want to go the 2nd round.

They have to win their next game, not this one.

I agree with you. The ref did a very good job in this game, though the first red card to Mastroeni was questionable. After everything was set, the ref did an amazing job in the 2nd half.

Did any watch the post game on ABC?

This wonderful referee was actually suspended along with 4 other referees from the LAST world cup for irregularities. They were actually called out by fellow refs.

I am not talking trash about the US  I said they were the obvious winners and that they haven't scored a goal yet. How is that talking trash?

The way you finished your sentence made it seem that you were negatively talking about the US.

What I find sad, is that the US still has not scored a goal for themselves.

I think the ref was fair in the second half, not in the first. The game should have been a 10 v 10 not 10 v 9.

You guys think that ref was fair? What the hell?

I dont think so.

After he gave a red card to the italian player, i told my wife he would give one to the US in the next strong contact from any american, and he did.

In the second yellow(followed by the red), clearly he didnt notice the player already had one yellow. Otherwise he would not expulse the american.

What does that matter if he did a good job here? There's no denying he was strict, as have been MOST of the refs in this tournament, however he cannot be blamed for the outcome of the game. The US players fouled Italy, that's why they were sent off - the Italy player fouled the US, admittedly much worse, and he was sent off. Any player with a card should not be making the sort of tackles that the US guy did, particularly not the two legged takeout from behind that he managed against Italy. Don't blame the ref, blame the players!

It was a bookable offence... the fact that he was booked before is irrelevant.

Well they are supposedly 5th in the world... they should be capable of a goal no? I'm just pointing out what happened, or what hasn't happened rather...

That is irrelevant. The fact that they are 5th has nothing to do with it. Mexico is ranked higher and they failed to score a goal against the worst team in the tournament.

That was just the thing, the ref didn't remember he had a yellow card already, and he tried to give him another! wtf, that deserved a talk, not another card.

He had a yellow... the ref gave him another yellow (as he was supposed to), and then brought out the red because it was his second. That's how the game works.

Exactly what i said....he wouldnt give another yellow (followed by the red) if he was paying attention.

Imo, it was a bit of preciptation.

Italians must be really ****ed at this point.....lol

What does that matter if he did a good job here?

I was joking.

He ejected three players, then after that swallowed his whistle. I agree, refs do not determine the outcome of the game, but when they can remove players from the field, then that statement becomes null.

He wasn't strict, he was card happy.

    • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
