Neowin's Official World Cup 2006 Thread

By watching the Brazil game right now, Ronaldo seems to me he's pretty much done with football and International Competition. He's definitely not the old Ronaldo at '98.

Well thats my two cents.

i agree....hes a spent force....fat and slow

Brazil played bad, yet again

It is a shame that Australia couldn't pull off a tie, at least, after all those breakaways and wide open shots.

The only thing I can guarantee is that Brazil will not win the cup. Mark my words.

CLEARLY Brazil played better than the first game, I remember the last 2 world cups everyone thought they would not advance given their bad performance at the beginning of the tournament. One thing the #1 team in the world does NOT lack is SKILL. As time goes on, they improve their tactics and always end up at the finals. History has showed this.

And with a lot of players going for their 2nd and even 3rd consecutive World Cup, chances are this is happening again.

Ronaldo got much better but I'm not sure whether Robinho should be in his place.

Awesome goal from Fred, just after 5 minutes he got into the game and 4 minutes before the end of the match!

So many chances but no cigar.

i was expecting a 1 all but oh well Australia gave it there best but it was not enough to beat Brazil.

is it just me or in the second half Cahill was a no show?.. or was he sent off?

cant wait for the next game :D

Ill do it.

Please do. I want to see Brazil play the likes of Argentina, Germany, Portugal, etc. and see how many goals those teams miss with wide open nets.

Edit: I don't have to wait too long. Brazil's opponents in the next round? Czech republic, Italy, or Ghana. Can't wait

Germany(same to England) is already qualified by a great chance. Portugal, hmmm...sry to say this (i have portguese nationality too) but Portugal has a very poor gameplay. (except Figo)

Argentina i agree, they are demonstrating great football.

About Brasil, ill tell you what is happening.

Brasil is not making much effort, they have "easy" games....If you could notice, most of them were not even running much, Ronaldinho didnt press and only gave the ball sideways.....and etc.

Dont let the game they presented till now fool you.

They will advance much more than you expect.

BUT one thing i agree, they could try to entertain us a bit more.

Seems they are going for result and not worring about the show.

I am not allowing two games dictate what I think will happen. My thoughts of them not winning this year's cup goes back to their qualifying games where it took Brazil the last game to even qualify, something that has never happened.

true true. Brasil historically has been very slow in the group stages.

Awesome?! C'mon, my gran could have scored that tap in... and she's dead! He just happened to be in right place at the right time.

Sorry, have to disagree with you, there. Portugal is slowly gaining momentum and has one of the best teams of this world cup. You'll see in the 8ths. Mexico won't count because I think Scolari will spare a lot of players due to yellow cards. But maybe we can win that game as well, because in Euro 2000, Portugal did the same thing and end up winning 3-0 against Germany.

He made the goal himself though.

Fred is a very good player, I mean in Brazil he has scored almost at goal for every game he plays in, which is a brilliant record. In France he has not done to badly, when given the chance to shine.

    • Microsoft confirms a new, useful Teams' app is coming very soon by Sayan Sen In the modern digital workspace meeting recordings and summaries are very commonplace, still finding the right recap later can be surprisingly difficult. To address that inconvenience Microsoft is working on a new dedicated meeting recap application designed to bring all meeting recaps into a single, centralized location. In a recent announcement on its Microsoft 365 roadmap website, the company has confirmed the new applet and has explained how the new experience will work and why it believes it can help users stay on top of discussions without having to search through multiple chats, calendars, or files. For those unfamiliar, meeting recaps provide a summary of key discussions, decisions, action items, and other relevant information generated after a meeting ends. They are intended to help participants revisit important points while also allowing those who missed the meeting to quickly catch up on what happened. Traditionally locating older recaps could require users to navigate through various conversations or meeting histories. The new meeting recap app aims to simplify that process by gathering all available recaps into one dedicated hub. According to Microsoft, this should make it easier to browse past meetings, review outcomes, and stay informed about ongoing projects and discussions. One notable feature of the applet is the addition of quick filters which are meant to allow users to instantly narrow down the list of available recaps and surface specific meetings without manually searching through extensive records. Audio recap is also there. If you're wondering how long these recaps will last before self-expiring, the app will provide access to meeting recaps from the past 30 days or approximately one month. You can view the feature entry here on the official Microsoft 365 (M365) website under roadmap ID 564614. Its rollout is set to begin this month (June 2026). Do keep in mind though that new feature rollouts often get delayed.
    • Does it have couch co-op is the question I have here.
