Neowin's Official World Cup 2006 Thread

Ok buddy I'm a fan of England too, but Rooney just stomped on that guys nuts intentionally. He deserved it.

He did deserve it, because he stamped. But now England have to play better than before to win this game.

 Rooney was asking for it.

:pinch: Yeah bit obvious when you do it almost in front of the ref :pinch:

I know what was he thinking :pinch:

When I watch the World Cup, I see the players get the ball right in front of the goal, but when they kick it, it goes into the damn stands. Why are these pro's so bad at aiming? It's not like it happens rarely, I see it all the time.

Shouldn't these professional athletes be able to aim the ball? They look like kids out there when they try and score.

Rooney has just shown how immature he is for international competitions...you can't act like that after commiting a foul in front on the referee, in such an important match... i'm pretty much sure Ronaldo provoked him, but Rooney shouldn't have entered into the dirty game that portuguese players bring on the match (they're professional divers and actors).

That said, it's hard to say for me as an Argentinean, but I prefer England's game to Portugal's game ...

@soloredd: Pretty much all the teams do that to get free kicks / penalties / cards, but some teams (like right now Portugal) are much more inclined to do that.

Yeah, it's really noticeable today with Portugal, really takes the skill of the sport away as there is hardly a good flow to the match.

BTW, I was pulling for Argentina! I like how they play, really hard for the full time, I think they just ran out of gas at the end (not to mention having their #2 in goal didn't help with PKs)

man. what the hell happened?! ya know, to me, it didn't look like rooney intentionally stomped that guys nuts, but the ref thought so, PLUS, you can't push your opponent IN FRONT of the ref. rooney really f'ed up there.

i know this is going to **** of the portugal fans here, but portugal is the worst foul begging team i've ever seen. i know diving is 'part of the game' to gain an advantage, everyone does it. but when you get grazed and then sit on the ground begging for a foul EVERY time, it's really pathetic. i'm not trying to start a debate about this, i'm just making an observation.

i'm surprised england has been able to fight off portugal being down a man.

    • So, an article that has nothing to do with Windows 11, still gets Windows 11 in the title and a build number as the picture? Dell have a buggy build of Support Assist HP have UEFI settings that need unlocking for the secureboot cert upgrade to take place.
    • What I can't seem to understand is that Google are paying SpaceX? Surely it would be the other way round, with SpaceX needing Google's datacenters etc.? Oh well, this level of money and power is way outside of my comprehension at the best of times.
    • "77ee94b helium/windows: winsparkle updater (built-in auto-update support on Windows" If that's what I think it is, that is about the only thing that's been missing from this excellent browser. I guess I'll find out the next time I'm on a Windows machine.
