Only have watching Portugal get knocked out next to look forward too. Can't wait to see that smug look knocked off Ronaldo's face....don't think he'll be in a rush to get home to Manchester do you!

oh, me too.

he's gonna go back to his hotel and blow ricardo, those fags.

I really don't like talking on a team after they lost, so sorry England. However, what bothers me is that from the poll on the main page:

World Cup '06 is for

England 135

+

Poll on Topic:

England 126

What's wrong with that is, all those with england nominated England to win the world cup, not because of their play but because of the love to the team. And if you notice the questions posted above, they ask for who is going to win the world cup, and not what team do you cheer for. I myself am with Italy, but i nominated Germany to win. So what I am trying to say is that you mustn't be very sure of your team, because that is somewhat biased. And if the admins don't mind, it is much better to remove the banner on the main page, not that it is annoying, but since they lost, removing it is the wise choice.

Again, here are my expecations:

1-Italy vs. Ukraine (Winner=Italy) > correct

2-Germany vs. Argentina (Winner=Germany) > correct

3-England vs. Portugal (Winner=Portugal) > correct

4-Brazil vs. France (Winner=Brazil)

5-Italy vs. Germany (Winner=Germany)

6-Brazil vs. Portugal (Winner=Brazil)

7-Brazil vs. Germany (World Cup Winner=Germany)

To be perfectly honest, England SHOULD have won that. They were by far the better team. I think the ref was biased, and there are so many dirty cheating tards on that portugese team it's unbelieveable, especially Ronaldo *shudders*.

Unlucky England, shame they couldn't get through. Although im surprised Portugal couldn't win it in normal time, or extra time. They had the man advantage but couldn't capitalise on it.

Well done to them for winning though. But it will be the last game they win in this tournament

From the BBC, it looks like the ref sent Rooney off because of the push! The ref's face was straight until Rooney pushed Ronaldo. England are an honest team and never place any pressure on the ref's in any games.

RIP

We completely deserved that match man.

We did well, i knew we was gonna lose if it went to penalties though, especially with no Beckham, Owen or Rooney

    • Bluesky COO warns social media regulations could destroy competition from small startups by Paul Hill Fears that increasing government control of social media risks regulatory capture by the biggest social media firms were raised again recently. Bluesky’s chief operating officer said in an interview that social media bans for children and tighter regulations for social media firms risk creating a world where there are only a few social media platforms run by companies with the deepest pockets. Regulations on social media firms have been very lax since they appeared for mainstream users in the 2000’s. This gave Meta, Snapchat, and Google time to build up their user bases and get entrenched, with Meta being the most successful. Now that Meta has succeeded, it has been attempting regulatory capture. By pushing for more regulations of social media, Meta hopes to make it more difficult for rivals to challenge it. For its part, it doesn’t need to worry about the cost of regulation because it has a lot of money to spend, whereas startups do not. Speaking to CNBC, Rose Wang, Bluesky’s chief operating officer, said: “I support the protection and the safety of youth, the question that we have then is at what cost, because essentially what I’m scared of is in the long term, we’re headed to a world where there’s about three to five platforms, and extreme heavy regulation of those platforms, and basically the whole compliance teams of these platforms are 10 times the size of our entire team. So, basically, we’re living in a world where it’s almost impossible for smaller entrants to come in and build healthier spaces. These platforms have led to a place where the bottom line is the thing that drives what they do... so I understand why governments have to step in and regulate, because the platforms have done nothing right.” She said that while she is not against regulation, there needs to be more channels between the small to mid-sized players and regulators to help protect them. She says that big tech players, on the other hand, “who we know are circumventing regulation,” need to be regulated. Essentially, the Bluesky position is one of nuance, rather than absolutes. While Bluesky’s proposal may preserve competition in the social media space, it still doesn’t address the massive privacy implications these age verification measures introduce, such as handing over sensitive identity documents to access age-gated content.
