Im tired of reading those lame arguments against Portugal, you guys ALLWAYS find an excuse, ALLWAYS, im out of this discussion, no point to argue with blind people.

It happens in every sport, don't take it too hard. I do the same when my teams lose, I always try to find solace in blaming something/someone OTHER than the team.

I find it surprising how nobody is clamoring for the England coach's head, or how about the fact that 3 out of the 5 penalty kicks that England took, they basically telegraphed the shot and the Portuguese goalkeeper read it like a book? Instead, the focus is on Rooney and his antics...and shockingly, everyone who had an opinion during the game and the Brazil-France game called him out for it.

Deliberately attempting to con the referee, and also to influence his decision is cheating. Which is why players are no longer around to suround the referee.

Even Shearer agree's with me: http://www.football365.com/news/story_187943.shtml

Uhh, Shearer is English, so of course he's going to defend England.

Even your precious coach admits it was a red

Eriksson: 'I don't think we can complain about the red card from what I saw on the TV,' he said.

you make it sound as if rooney didnt do anything. was there some censorship on the english feed?

Well now everything I have said is being blown out of proportion.

If Ronaldo had stayed away from the referee, Rooney would not of been sent off. That is all I am trying to say. The fact that Ronaldo tried to provoke a reaction (admitedly Rooney showed a weak character for giving him one), is not exactly fair play is it?

Not up on football news eh? He is no longer the manager. He "quit" a while ago, but stayed for the world cup

I'm just waiting for Rooney to have it out with him when the season begins. It will also be priceless to see the warm welcome they will have for Ronaldo opening game for Manure.

Then you talk about England having fair play

Maybe if your team would wear shorts instead of dresses we might stop calling you cheats.

Your attempt at humor is laughable

Well, there you go. The team came apart from the inside.

No, not really, they have been apart for a while. Ericsson is not really a motivator of men (as you would see from watching the matches). He had his favourites and stuck with them no matter what happened.

Worst than a "loser" is a "bad loser".

Let it go....England was eliminated just like BR.

Even tho England did a good game, not a shame presentation like us. :x

I know, and I do agree with you. But how is it ok for people to slag off England, but if we retaliate everyone cry's?

im not following the logic there, ronaldo is blamed for protesting/reporting what happened to his teammate, and not rooney for pushing him? a professional player should know better.

I know, and I do agree with you. But how is it ok for people to slag off England, but if we retaliate everyone cry's?

Its simple, Martyn. I am not trying to be a hard head or an ass of some sort but everyone here that is defending England keeps making up pathetic excuses, e.g Ronaldo is a cheater (for what? Rooney stepping on the guys nuts?)

If everyone was like Krpano and fellow Brazilians, they would let it go and call it a good game.

We need to get over it. Rooneys own short fuse was the cause of his own demise. I've always hated Ronaldo but I don't think he had a lot to play on this one.. it was Rooneys own stupid fault and thats that. He blatantly and violently fouled that guy right under the refs nose then shoved Ronaldo to.. he's his own worst enemy and deserved to be sent off.

WTF is all this discussion about England?! They didn't deserve to be in the semi-finals BECAUSE THEY DID NOT PLAY GOOD! Roonie was a disgrace, Beckham was bad, Crouch (or however you write his name) was bad... Eriksson was a bad coach... Portugal was just better in the whole tournament (even if they weren't that good in today's). France vs Portugal should be interesting match.

Martyn, i think England did the best game in this world cup...but unfortunately the penalties are a lottery...and Ricardo is an amazing goal keeper...he already proved that before.

Rooney deserved the red card.

Even if the referee was unsure about it, dont forget that he has those earbuds and the others referees keep sending info to him.

But thats not the point.

The point is that we are out and we will have to watch other teams now... :(

Thats life.

Btw, England should have taken Scolari....

What a coach.

I miss him with BR.

i too am sad that Brasil lost, but the better team won today, and i hardly beleived that they would win thir 6th World cup in successive tournaments. You know how Brasil have won the WC on every continent that has hosted the event? well, that what im waiting for in 4 years time :D :p

Regardless of their defeat, look up to the other teams also with rising and present talents.

Germany vs Italy. 2 Three time World Champions. Germany home advantage, Italy wants revenge for the Germans winning the WC on Italian soil 16 years ago? Awesome game to watch

Portugal vs France. 2 sides wih a lot of flair in their sides. Both you could say have exceeded expectations, and have 2 of the greats of football in Figo and Zidane.

:( that Brasil lost, but they can't be the best every year

I agree, Rooney let his team down.

I believe that's what it came down to. England was playing hand and hand with Portugal until Rooney committed a dumb mistake that has literally cost his country a possible trip to the semi-final. This wasn't about Ronaldo talking to the ref or winking or about players diving, this was about a player with a short temper who lost his temper that cost his team dearly.

Now that this has settled, I'd like to congratulate England in making the Quarter Finals and to be honest, I was sweating bricks all game long when England went on the attack. They played very, very well with ten men and showed the class they had, minus Rooney.

With a new coach, England will be a much better team.

    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
