now i'm using them... sooo cool!

by the way, anyone of you has the problem that when the system reboot the visual style isn't applied?

That was done for WB 3.4 as an extra limitation of the trial version. I think Stardock took it out again in a later build, but I'm not sure of that.

Talking about cracks in front of StarDock product manager is not very wise.

y? what is he going to do? i dont use his products anyways. I installed that Gamecube/Mario Sunshine theme and like I mentioned before, it was slow. MSStyles might not be as flashy as WindowsBlinds, but at least they are faster.:p

The LACK of respect this site's uninformed users shows against StarDock is really disturbing, for me this is always been a huge issue I have with Neowin users.

1) Microsoft Love WindowBlinds MORE

2) StarDock makes many GOOD softwares, and should be a priced product! Why give away good products ALL for free? (Stop complaining it's priced) They are already nice enough for you to use it with limited features, for free.

3) Tgtsoft's software is a Hack, and they are charging people money for it? It makes NO sense whatsoever! Why don't you people ever complaining about them, Instead?

Deal with IT!!!

Oh, you don't think with StarDock's abilities, they can't come up with MsStyles? In fact, they done it, but that FACT Microsoft doesn't like it much when Stardock did it!!!

Brad/Frogboy is just respectful to MS's wish and like "Ok, I am not going to modify your core OS files, just to accomplish what Tgtsoft claimed it's fame for".

Didn't you Windows XP Service Pack 1 users notice the patch by TGTsoft didn't work anymore?

Overall, WindowBlinds is a Safer way to skin. Tgtsoft = NOT as safe!

When a software that CAN DO MORE like this, it does not take a Rocket scientist to figure it will be little slower.

However, unless you are a SPEED freak, or you have a system that sucks ass, you won't notice much anyways.

Not on my 933MHZ Pentium III, anyway.

No one complains about StyleXP because it isn't slow like WB and it is VERY simple to use. And who cares if they charge, thats what a crack is for :D :p.

I have NEVER had a problem with StyleXP AND it works PERFECTLY in Windows XP w/ Service Pack #1 installed.

My machine is very fast (see my sig). Whenever I have installed WB (including the Gamecube/Mario Sunshine theme), I have to wait for the theme to completely load and refresh after starting windows. Thats annoying. with MSstyles, I can start using it right away. The only things I have starting in my task bar btw are RivaTuner, Daemon Tools & Norton Antivirus 2002.

BOOM!

Long time reader, first time poster here and I'm so happy to see Neowin back :)

Anyway, I'm running a bit behind here and just recently found out about this theme. I was hoping someone would be so kind as to either post a link to this theme (links on second page no longer work) or even email it to me. Thanks in advance.

First of all I know this is a late reply but I think it deserves a good rebuttal because these three opinions show a lack of knowledge on the author's part.

1. Where have you heard this?Microsoft is not a visual style company and the only themes they've ever made have been for .msstyles, if they wanted to use Windows Blinds they would have, they're a big boy company and can make there own products. (Don't bother telling me Microsoft licensed a theming engine from Stardock, complete absolute nonsense, I'll believe it when I see Microsoft mentioning this)

2. Agreed, but for every Stardock product there is an equal substitute that in many cases is faster and better. Take Yz'Dock, it is far better then Object Dock which you have to pay money for (!)(Quite absurd seeing how it is a completely rediculous product that shouldnt have a price tag)

Another thing, MSStyles can do everything you'd ever need in a visual style, sans the bloat and lame animation in titlebar things.

3. StarDock's "Window Blinds" products could also be described as a hack since they plug into Windows API and functions of they're own, so when you think of it that way, Stardock's products are no worse. We are still using Windows, remember? You cannot just go make your own function out of Windows specs and expect it to run. :)

Microsoft DOES have their own WindowBlnds skins

Completely customize the Windows user interface to reflect your passion - Age of Mythology - with this new Age of Mythology WindowBlinds download.

Err. You should maybe check your facts there. ObjectDock is free.

Plus:

  • YzDock: XP Only
  • msstyles: XP only
  • Well. you get the picture.

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
