You can host a website, and people could access it from your ip address. Try a program like xampp (btw, this will probably turn out a slow loader unless you have a fast internet connection and server computer).

Also no - ip.org (no spaces) offer a way to get a www.yourname.no - ip.com address. Probably best your gna get for free.

There are plenty of free, but ad-sponsored, sites as well.

pages.google.com? Not top level (with your own xxxxx.com address) but what are you after? A name or hosting?

You could register a domain with one of those registrar companies and then host it yourself. You could, however, avoid registering a domain name if you use on of those dynamic IP domain names.

You would obviously need to leave your computer on 24/7. It may eat your bandwidth (if you get visitors) and your ISP may go into a tizzy (some ISP Terms and Conditions prevent you from doing such a thing) and cut you off suddenly. If your internet connection goes down then no-one will be able to view your website.

You could install Apache for Windows or one of the other free software webservers. You'll also need DNS services unless you install a DNS server. Perhaps one of those dynamic IP services will do this for you.

You can pretty much forget about using email with that domain (if you do get a properly registered domain) because you will need a static IP to send email to most places these days. Your ISP may also block port 25.

All that being said, my domain (web and email) runs off my computer at home. I do have a static IP address though.

Check out Abyss Web Server - I've used it and it works great. You can set up a phpbb or invision forum very easily. They have a forum if you need a hand too.

But what fred666 is important. You'll have to leave your machine on all the time, and if your site becomes popular, it would be much better to have a dedicated pc. But then, if your site does get popular, your ISP may catch on.

well i ws just checking.... i thought i would ask.... that would be a dedicated computer bit i was just looking for a free www._ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.com it would be used to run a small buisness . of couurse i gues it would be better to have a newer server and some hisher speed sand wha ever i need to "legally" host a web page without my internet connection getting cut off.................

My recommendation would be able to find a decent free host (I work at one :) PM me for information) because that way you won't have slow loading times, and you can actually use a domain name because you need DNS servers to point it to.

That way, you would also be able to use your internet without it being slowed down by the server. It would also be cheaper, because you wouldn't need to upgrade your hardware (although by what you have, I would definitely recommend it) or your internet connection.

By the way, duplicate accounts (which would be "bobdude" and "bobman000") are not allowed.

Good luck,

Clint

    • Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.2.3 by Razvan Serea Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a utility for completely removing AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL graphics drivers and related packages from your system, attempting to eliminate all leftovers (including registry entries, folders and files, driver store). Though AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL drivers can usually be removed via the Windows Control Panel, this uninstaller tool was created for situations where standard uninstall fails, or when you need to fully remove NVIDIA or ATI graphics card drivers. After using this driver cleaner, your system will behave as though it’s the first time you’re installing a new driver—similar to a fresh Windows installation. As with all such tools, we recommend creating a restore point beforehand, allowing you to undo changes if issues arise. If you're having trouble installing an older or newer driver, try it—there are reports that it resolves such problems. Recommended usage: The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best. Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe). It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues. You do NOT need to uninstall the driver prior using DDU. Requirements: .NET Framework 4.8 Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit or 64-bit) Note: Using on Insider Preview builds is at your own risk. Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.2.3 changelog: All GPUs: Fixed hardware rescan issue when cleaning all GPUs without restarting or shutting down UI: Added Guru3D mention in the About section. General: Various fixes and enhancements. • That would be nice, if excel could refresh pivot tables without bugs. Frequently you refresh a pivot and all parameters get lost. Now this will happen automatically. Bravo MS!
    • If one could ever put all the crap of the world in one box, that would be Microsoft.
