Im having trouble getting my Netgear WGR614 Wireless 802.11g Router to pick up my internet connection on my Netopia 2241N Dsl modem.. It detects my PPoE connection but it fails to pick up my internet connection..

I changed the Modems address from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.0.54 to match the router's 192.168.0.1.. changed a few settings in effort to get this to work.. with no luck..

Can any one assist me please?

I figured it out.. thanks.. :)

the prob was the netopia modem already had settings to log on to my isp... with my username and password.. that prevented me from using the WAN port on my netopia router.. since they both cant long on to my isp.. so i started off by connecting the modem using of of the other ports on my router.. and have it sign on to my isp and share the connection.. (wireless everything worked)... but it really puzzled me that i couldnt get my WAN port up.. !!

did a lil more research.. finally i found that i could put my modem into bridge mode and have the router log onto my isp through it

pm me if anyone needs help or the config info ;)

Your first device is NOT a modem.. it is a gateway device, ie a modem/router combo.. putting it into bridge mode -- turns off the router functions.

Glad to see someone actually found some info on their own, without having to be spoon fed ;)
