hey ronny, have question for you. How are you saving the bitmaps? Specifiacally #685. Are somehow saving it as a 32bit? I think you said you were using Photoshop. Maybe thats why. Im using PSP.

Viewing them in PSP, they look the same. Exept for editing of course. But in Explorer, there is a definite difference. Just wondering what that difference is.

All the bitmaps are saved as 32 bit. I use Photoshop, so I don’t know how PSP works on this.

Bitmap 685 is 32 bit, with 1 alpha channel. You have to edit both channels/layers

I don’t know to explain this in a better way.

I would recommend you to use Photoshop for this. I can’t tell you how to do this in PSP.

To use this skins you have to replace your ?uxtheme.dll? file in ?C:\Windows\System32? directory, with the new one.

Then you have to replace you?re ?aero.msstyles? with the new one. ?C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero?

You find all the files you need with the skins

That??Dumb question, probably:stion, probably:

Exactly how do I replace the .dll's??C:\Windows\System32?ows?C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero?s\Themes\Aero? but I'm told I "don't have permission" and that I should "contact the administrator". I am logged on as administrator (I'm the only account on this computer) and have turned off "User Account Control". I'm at a loss. Sorry if this is a stupid question. IDEAS???

You need to take ownership of the file(s) first. Then youll be able to change the permissions.

Right click the file

Properties

Security Tab

Advanced

Owner Tab

Edit

Then select the user from the list that you want to give ownership to.

Then you will probably still have to give your self permissions too.

Right click the file

Properties

Security Tab

Advanced

Then tick the check boxes.

This permissions bit still confuses me sometime and I may have gotten some of it wrong. You just have to try different things. Also try the help files. The helped me the other night with some of this.

@ Ecat

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Appreciate the help! I can't get any transparency at all in this build. Unlike the post from spyder2k on page 2, I don't have Control Panel -> Personalization -> Change your color scheme or any transparency settings for that matter.

Well it should be

Personalization -> Visual Appearance -> Change your color scheme.

If you dont see Change your color scheme, then when it goes to Appearance Settings, do you see Winows Vista Aero in the list? Or is Basic the top of the list?

The first time I installed it, it defaulted to Basic and had to change it to Aero. Just thought Id mention it in case you may have missed it.

Also you can get to Personalization by right-clicking the desktop instead of going into the control panel.

It shows "basic". How can I change it to Aero??

Hmm. I dont know. There are some threads around here about getting it to work or forcing it or something. Maybe your computers not up to snuff for Aero? Hope not though.

Heres another place you might be able to get some answers.

Really appreciate your help Ecat. The links were a help. My computer is up to snuff, but the display adapter might not be: Intel® 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation) It seems that these drivers won't allow Aero.

From one of the threads: "We need the WDDM driver(s) for our graphics adapter. I have the Intel 915GM/GMS 910GML adapter and aero is also disabled. I wonder when will Intel/Microsoft release them.."

Again, thanks for the help. Sorry to take over this thread.

xxdesmus, The links seem to be fine. Have you tried this? It has for differnt ones in it. One, I think is Fugal, that youre looking for.

It says "uxtheme.dll" is in use then how can I do this?

Also I believe the colors are found in Variant which look like Hex. How do you read it or extract the color values from it in text form?

Yes, it is the list from 5384.

I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about hex

Nice themes, Ronny, Now I just wish I was running Beta 2 instead of 5456.... :)

Thank you!

Maybe you can have it for Vista 5456 in a few days. I will try to do that. :)
