still can't add domain controller after adprep

Hi!

We have a win 2000 server that is domain controller on the network.

I have tried to use the active directory install wizard to install our new 2003 server as an additional domain controller for our existing domain.

I got an errror message saying the active directory on the win 2000 server wasn't compatible so I had to run adprep.

I run adprep /forestprep and adprep/ domainprep both succesfully but I stille cant add the 2003 server as domain controller. It still thinks the old server isn't uppgraded. :crazy:

Have you checked the domain function level?

The 2003 servers, are they Windows 2003 or Windows 2003 R2. Because with R2, there are additional schema updates, adprep can be found on CD 2.

Otherwise, is DNS configured correctly on the new W2K3 boxes?

Exactally.

You need to upgrade to 2003 R2 schemas

Upgrade 2000 servers schema's to 2003R2 (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=917385)

Put CD 2 in, and run the update from there.
