what would be the point of making another distro from an already existing distro if it differs only in theme and widgets. If you're planning to do that, just drop the distro idea and create the widgets for exisiting distro's.

If you want to be unique, if you want to make a difference, then commit yourself fully and start from scratch. There are more then enough distro's out there, you'll have to do something better then just changing an existing one in some tiny ways.

I totally agree, but as we have been saying, the development team wants to start slowly and work up to creating our own distro from scratch. Not everyone on the team has the same level of expertise and after we "get our feet wet" we will proceed with a unique and individual distribution.

It is the old "crawl, walk, run" theory. Some on the team can run.... but most of us are not there yet and we don't want to leave anyone in the dust.
