Never liked it, never will and can't relate to it. And i hate it even more when people make more and more posts on "why you hate rap" i mean do people make polls or threads on "do you like metal" ?

Raps a much more controversial topic. Rap is associated with guns, drugs, gangsters, b-boys, producers, etc....

I used to like metal, the only things I can think you can associate it with is sweaty guys, long hair, and drinking.

Rap changes and evolves so quickly.

Did you people ever listen to Pac?

Now him I like but the rest of them are just dire

Nice generalization there buddy, obviously you have no clue what you're talking about.

Why's that? He's only stated what he thinks and as far as I can see make no assumptions for the rest of us.

Now him I like but the rest of them are just dire

Thats a broad generalization....

Yep, it was a statement.... as you said its also what he thinks, which is a very misguided view.

Hip-Hop/Rap is poetic, its art, and it isnt dieing like everyone else saids. Hip-Hop is not dead, its on life support. Besides Tupac, theres common, kanye, talib, nas, etc that are keeping it alive. Sure people can generalize Rap and affiliate it with guns, women, alcohol, etc. But look deeper into the surface and you'll find a whole different world of rap and music.

Theres a movie coming up; a documentary i believe titled "Word.Life" It shows the audience stories about how writing music and listening to music elevates and keep them going day to day. In the trailer in which you can find at apple.com there was this guy who said something that is the epitome of what Hip-Hop/Rap is suppose to be about.

I dont do the quote justice so if you guys want a different perspective of what rap is besides the mainstream perspective, check out the trailer over at apple.com.

Again say's who? In his mind and to his own preference rap has no redeeming qualities which today I have to agree with.

I prefer rap from the early days and having been around to experience it can voice my own opinion of rap in 2006 and say it doesn't have the same impact on me as it did then.

Are you or anyone misguided because you don't like the same music as me? I doubt that.

Nice generalization there buddy, obviously you have no clue what you're talking about.

heh. then enlighten us. tell us what rap has in terms of redeeming qualities nowadays. cause like the poster of that quote you quoted, i too cannot see much.

I dont want to start a huge flame war or anything. But rapping is hardly talking over a beat. There is the flow you have to take into consideration and vibing to the beat. Plus the lyrics. MAINSTREAM RAP are prolly just a few lines with no intelligent schemes. But there are raps out there that are masterpiece. You know how hard it is to make 100 bar rhymes and to create a story out of it?

My objective here is to not persuade you becuase that is literally impossible . Just like you cant persuade or change your parents. As long as you take something out of this debate, then we all win. The beauty of Debate.

Have a wonderful independence days guys! Music in all its form rap, hiphop, rock, pop, rnb, etc melodies of life. Life is a beautiful struggle. =)
