SQL text Editor

Question

HI

I do lots of database development work on SQL 6.5 and SQL 2000, now SQL 2000's IDE is not too bad but 6.5 is awful.

Can anyone recommend a SQL text editer. I don't need something that actually connects to the database, just something that i can write in and then copypaste into SQL 6.5. I suppose like a advanced Notepad kind of program, something with line numbers and syntax highligting. Any Ideas?

Thanks

UltraEdit?

If you didn't already know, you can use the Query Analyzer that came with SQL 2000 even in 6.5. For a free program that acts like an analyzer for MS Access, I've used Access Query Analyzer by Jeff Key.

I highly recommend purchasing UltraEdit-32. It is very good and does a lot more than just SQL editing... unfortunately it is not freeware. For a little more power with SQL ops, compatibility with Oracle/SQL Server/DB2/MySQL, and a freeware license, I've used Toad and it is not bad. The biggest disadvantage is that you have to download and reinstall every 90 days.
