Why do I have adverts in this when i pay for hotmail? Definately has a long way to go. (and yes I'm aware that it is a beta, but really I expect better).

I don't think they have setup premium accounts for Windows Live yet so until they do even premium users will have them.

Also, this is an experiment for Microsoft so we all need to give our strong feedback about the placement of these ads. Personally, I don't mind small ads that are not in the way, but their ad "feature" is terrible.

Ive got a live.com address in the UK and it wont let me sign up - all it says is "enter your email for an update when Windows Live Mail Desktop is available"

strange - i was part of the previous version betas... just wont let me into this one :(

Thats exactly whats happening to me too :( . I have a live.be address and I live in the UK.

Its weird that it lets most people, but obviously not us, maybe to do with us being in the UK perhaps

I use live.com email id and i had setup my location as India which prevents me from signing up WLM desktop beta. I changed the country to US even then i am not able to sign up, is there any one facing such problem, any remedy for this?

Mine is working now, so all you need is change the default location to US and wait for less than one day and sign up for WLMD

Can anyone please help me. When I open WLMDesktop BETA it first asks for have runnin' internet after that it says that msmail.dll couldn't load up.

You could try performing a repair. I had this issue... went to Add/Remove Programs, clicked 'Change' on the WLMD entry, and chose the Repair option. It repaired, and finished.

Then I started it up again, and it worked fine.

No gurantees though. WLMD has to be the buggiest Live product currently available. Works for some people, doesn't work for others. Your mileage may vary.

buggy aint the word... mine tried to find emails that aint even there and says that i have 22 new emails when i dont, it wont allow me to send an email... WOW buggy lol

EDIT:

this is what i get:

Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta could not download the requested message. It is likely that the message was removed or expired from the server. There is an error synchronizing your mail account, please call Microsoft support to resolve this issue. Subject 'Getting started with Microsoft Office Live Basics', Server: 'http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v1.0.0/sync.aspx', Protocol: HTTPMail, Port: 80, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x8009000F, Error Number: 0x8009000F

and this is only set up for my hotmail atm

I'm running this thing on Vista Public beta 2 and it keeps signing in automaticaly, without asking for my password. Now I know that with Vista Windows Mail identities are a thing of the past, you need to make a new user account in Vista for every user, which sucks if you ask me, it seems very unpractical to me. I mean how much disk space does a Vista user account take up for instance.

So maybe they are going along the same route with WLDM.

But anyway, does anyone know whether this automatic signing in is intended and can it be changed?

I looked on the Microsoft message boards for all the Live apps but couldn't find an answer there.

    • Remarkably based article from Garter - apparently there IS someone working there that actually understands mainframe systems.
    • Calling it TDS doesn’t answer the question: why did this site skip prior UFC games but review this one, at this exact political moment?
    • Its the timing of its release, mixed with the timing of the review mixed with the timing of the event, when this site never reviewed previous iterations of this game that I could find.
    • Instagram just got "a long-requested feature" by Hamid Ganji Instagram has finally added a new feature that has been "long-requested" and it allows users to write an individual caption for each image or video in a carousel. The feature will start rolling out this week, and it’ll be available to all users. Previously, Instagram only allowed a single caption for all regular posts and carousels. This made it harder for content creators to describe every scene in a carousel and often forced them to write longer captions. However, with this new feature, every slide in a carousel can have its own caption, which can be viewed by swiping left or right. To use the feature, when writing a caption for your post, select “Multiple captions” from the dropdown menu in the caption area. You can then write unique captions for each slide. By swiping through the carousel and selecting individual slides, a dedicated space for writing captions will appear. Instagram says the feature will help audiences get the right context at the right moment. The ability to assign a unique caption to each slide in a carousel could be particularly useful for content creators and brands on the platform. Instagram says the feature will begin rolling out this week. The new feature appears to have been well received by Instagram users, many of whom have been requesting it for a long time. However, users are now asking for additional features, such as the ability to add new slides to a carousel after it has been published. Instagram has been introducing several useful features lately, but users who want access to additional tools and perks can subscribe to the platform’s Instagram Plus offering. Priced at $3.99 per month, Instagram Plus includes exclusive features such as 48-hour Stories, more detailed post analytics, and the ability to tailor posts or Stories to specific audiences. The subscription includes 11 new features in total.
