echobo
Hi, I live in Southwestern PA and have the Verizon 768K/128K DSL package and every day like clockwork, the connection goes down from 4pm-7pm. This happened before (though it happened much more) and Verizon sent me a new modem. For a couple days it worked flawlessly and then this started happening. All of the devices that use the phone line are filtered. I've tried hooking it up to another wall jack but it still doesn't work. I have a Westell 6100 modem. When it goes down, The power light is solid, the ethernet light is solid, the DSL light is blinking and the internet light is not on. What could be wrong? This is a bad frst impression for my first high speed internet connection. Also, my grandparents live close to me (about the same distance from the CO) and they have the same package and modem and their connection has NEVER dropped. :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/488942-verizon-dsl-connection-problems/ Share on other sites
Rodrigo
It probably has something to do with microfilters or the line itself (noise maybe?). Make sure every phone jacket has full-working microfilters connected. echobo
There is no noise on the line and all the devices that use the telephone line are filtered. I find it wierd though that it is always only down from 4pm-7pm. Quick Shot
did verizon offer to come to your house and check your phone line. my friend a similar problem and it was a bad phone line. see if you can make an appointment for them to come. I have the same package you do and it's been working perfectly. I made sure that before i installed i changed all the phone lines since they weren't touched since they build this house. a god knows how long that was. mongoloid
I have the same package, same modem. The connection works flawlessly for me. You should have a technician come out and check your line. There might be a break in the line that causes the disruptions. But if the DSL light is on, then I doubt thats the problem. It seems like it might be a problem on Verizons side. Server might not be recognizing your username or password? Give them a call, have them see whats up. They should be able to test your line when you call in, if they find anything, they will send a technician out. If not, they will give you a new username/password to check if thats it. If all else fails, then I dont know man. Good luck! trey.bolinger
Try a line split from the demarking location. (the box outside on the side of your house) Plug a 2 port DSL filter into that, and the rest of your phones on the phone side of it, and your DSL on the line side of it, and see if that builds a connection, that is how I had things running here. I had to put together a bit bigger of a enclosure for the NID, but it worked for me. Verizon will always tell you its a problem on your side of things, even if you get a report for No-Sync. If you call them make sure you tell them you have power cycled their modem, tried pinging out...etc. Likely there is a DSLAM problem on Verizon's side and they'll open a trouble ticket for it. Hell-In-A-Handbasket
it happens to me alot and daily, not using verison though, using local phone company DSL, but Verizon is in the next county so they may be subleasing a verizon connection. either way its miffing me off, to point of going back to Cable soon if it doesnt stop, have had a tech come out, they gave me a new modem, was fine for a day, after that, same thing.
