Arial Hello everybody...

I was changing settings on the Folder Options from Control Panel to change icons for files and before I knew it, my Windows Explorer was messed up. Here's what happened: When you double click (or in my case, single click) a folder, its supposed to open on the same window right? well no, it went like this...it opened a command window....it didnt do this before, but it did after fiddling around with the Folder Options applet.

I changed an icon for "File Folder" through the File Types tab by simply changing the icon, nothing else, i didnt fiddle around with the properties of the file extension...but probably after that, Windows Explorer was messed...its not crashing or anything but its behaving differently, as I said before, the way you open folders, it opens a command DOS window.

Because of this, I uninstalled the open command window feature from Powertoys for WinXP...it didnt work, it simply went like this...when i open a folder, it opened a Search Window...no use...so here's what I did, i went back to Folder Options, went to File Types tab, and changed the properties for File Folder...I created a new property (Open) and specified a program for which it opened (explorer.exe)...it kinda solved the problem but by clicking on the folder from Win Explorer, it opened a new window...not a Windows Explorer window with the hierarchy on the left but a new window with the tasks on the left...it sux...isn't it supposed to open on the same Windows Explorer window?

Ok, so here's the point...can anyone tell me how to reverse this? I need some procedures as to how to get folders opening at the same Windows Explorer window, and any window too...I tried everything but there must be something that can fix this...

      Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...

      Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.

      You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
