Nabster
Is there a laptop that is good at doing spreadsheets, word-processing and internet surfing for ?400. I was thinking of getting a Dell Inspiron 1300 or this TOSHIBA http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/234219 Anymore ideas? On second thought, what would be a good work laptop, never mind the price just for using mircosoft office and watching dvds?

If you were to play games on that you will come up a little short since the gfx on it totally pants. Also the memory seems alittle small if you ask me. I would say min 512MB as 256 is barly enough to run XP without everthing else installed.

Nabster
I just want to know if there is a major difference between the two cpus, because I think that the difference between the ram won?t really matter that much.

Good choice, wait for them to do a double r.a.m. deal, usually viaback to school> deals. For the purpose of what you wrote, the amount of r.a.m. is enough. Elliot B.
Get a system with at least 512 MB RAM and a 1.5 GHz processor. Anything more extra is a nice addition...
