England rise to fourth in FIFA rankings

Recommended Posts

Steve McClaren's successful start with England has been confirmed by their rise to a record-equalling fourth place in the latest FIFA rankings.

Successive post-World Cup victories over Greece, Andorra and Macedonia have helped McClaren's men leapfrog Italy - whose poor form since winning the World Cup sees them slip to fifth.

England were last ranked fourth under Glenn Hoddle's stewardship in December 1997.

Scotland's promising start to their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign means a jump of six places to 34th, while Northern Ireland leap 14 places to 58th after their famous win over Spain.

The heroics of Lawrie Sanchez's men mean they overtake Wales, who slip six places to 62nd. And Steve Staunton's Republic of Ireland are down five to share 43rd place with Iran.

Up two places to second place, France now stand only 40 points behind long-time leaders Brazil, with Argentina still in third. Holland, Czech Republic, Germany, Portugal and Spain make up the top 10.

Why is Italy 5th? They just won the world cup :|

These rankings sorta suck ass.

Italy beat France - Italy go down France go up

Portugal beat England - Portugal go down, England go up

I'm not sure how FIFA does the rankings, but assuming it means which team is better, or playing better, then one match doesn't mean much at all. One team can beat any other team on a given match but it shouldn't affect the ranking, it's about how well you play which doesn't always translate into a Win or Loss

    • It won't perform hugely better than the 3080 unless you're VRAM limited in games. Have you tried putting new thermal pads on them 3080 and giving it a good clean to see if you can regain your temps and overclock?
    • Windows 95 offered the ability to add and edit the right click menus, on a per file type basis. This feature seems to be missing in the new file explorer. Are they bringing it back as a "new" feature?
    • It's nearly time to replace my aging Founders Edition 3080, it doesn't OC as nicely as it used to and it's running around 10c warmer than it did when I first bought it.  I don't have budget for much more than what I spent on the 3080 and locally, that means the best GPU I can manage is a 9070XT. On this basis I have a few questions: 1. At present I don't use ray tracing, if this was to change, would this GPU be an issue? 2. How does it compare on a performance basis? 3. Are the drivers worse or better than those for nVidia? 4. Linux support, is it there? 5. Anything else I should be aware of if I were to make this change? 6. Is it a good idea or shall I try and keep the 3080 a little longer.
    • What OS is that? It looks a bit like Mac OS but the command line suggests it isn't, either way I like it!
