Wow, it improved since the beta. As i said in another forum, one of the best skins. So clean and refreshingly different than the usual vista/mac ports. The green still hasn't grown on me. anxiously awaiting the non-green version :)

Just watched the custom video. That's cool. Thanks!

really clean and different stuff. gives windows a whole new feeling.

things to note:

-taskbar text white selection not available (for the clear taskbar with a darker wallpaper)

-the light green from all the styles, could it be somehow changed (natively)

-the inactive window, less transparent, with more visible text (darker)

-the hovered active state for the taskbar buttons maybe too bright (green)

just checked out the update. the previous caption bar was much better (with no gradient), worked better with the rest of the theme. i hope i'm not the only one with this opinion.

great anyway, i'm keepeng an eye on this one.

this skin is customizable and uses script files. there are many more flat captions than gloss. the screenshot was updated to reflect the change between RC5 and RC6, which were glossy subs. the previous captions remain. i agree with you, i like the flat captions as well.

you can change the taskbar font color and glyphs to black or white. view the video tutorial. double click use-panel-full-black.bat or one of the compact panels if you want black fonts and glyphs on the taskbar.

unfortunately not, the green is the main theme. the next pico style skin will use a more generic gray and gloss which should appeal to the bling crowd.

for some reason people like transparency. i also prefer opaque so i compromised by using transparency on inactive. i'll increase the opacity and see how it looks. will be in RC7.

i wanted to be consistent in my highlights. one highlight for everything not like vista. to change the highligt would be more effort than i want right before a release.

THANKS for the constructive criticism. This is what I've wanted from the beginning. Most of the time all I get is how nice the skin is.

Hi Mario,

I like RC8. One issue, if I pick a sub like Luna Blue that has white buttons and the background is mostly white, the inactive window buttons fade into the background. How about bat files to choose between black and white buttons? You scripted everything else :)

unfortunately, active/inactive windows use the same buttons. i chose the button color based on the active window. if i was to script it then you'd have the problem in reverse, dark buttons on a dark background. i have an idea though, i'll try a transparent warm gray for the inactive. on a pure white background the white buttons will still be visible on warm gray.

thanks for the feedback. i'll think of something.

    • OpenAI is making Codex more useful in Chrome and the cloud by Pradeep Viswanathan OpenAI's Codex now has more than 5 million users, up nearly 4x from earlier this year. To further accelerate Codex's growth among developers, OpenAI today announced that it has agreed to acquire Ona, a company that builds secure cloud execution and orchestration technology for developers. Ona will enable developers to run Codex with persistent and controlled cloud infrastructure for long-running agentic workflows. Right now, most Codex execution happens locally on developers' laptops and PCs, and the agents work continuously for hours. Through Ona, OpenAI aims to make Codex agents keep working for days without being tied to a user’s local machine or an active session. This will be an important capability for enterprises that want to deploy AI agents in production while maintaining control over infrastructure, data, security boundaries, credential scope, logging, and review workflows. Like any acquisition, the deal is still subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. Until the deal closes, OpenAI and Ona will continue to operate as separate companies. After closing, Ona’s team will join the Codex team to improve developer workflows. Alongside the Ona acquisition announcement, OpenAI today introduced a few Codex updates. Developers can now save Codex rate limit resets and use them later instead of losing them when they are not needed immediately. OpenAI is also adding a referral option where users can invite a friend to Codex and get a saved rate limit reset. OpenAI today also announced a developer mode for browser use in Chrome and the Codex in-app browser. With this mode, Codex can use the Chrome DevTools Protocol to debug web apps, inspect pages, and work more directly with browser-based development workflows. Developers can use this when they want Codex to profile JavaScript, inspect console output and network traffic, examine web page states including the DOM and applied styles, and more.
