MurrayF1
Ok, Im setting up a new server for a local school (old server is a PII 300mhz running server 2003) as the old ict guy didnt really have a clue i wanted to make things slightly more structured. So i have created an orgizational unit for the classroom accounts and i have made a GPO for this via Group Policy Managment. Now if i log into Class1 the policy is applied fine but on class 2 - 8 it is not applied. Where am i going wrong all the roaming profiles are working ok im confused please help. P.S all the DNS settings are find i have checked everything i cant think of . Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/498682-group-policy/ Share on other sites
Geleira
Run gpupdate.exe to force a policy update on the non-working machines. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/498682-group-policy/#findComment-587908249 Share on other sites
fault
Are you sure the machines are in the correct OU so the GPO will apply? Run rsop.msc on any machine to check which policies are actually being applied Check the event viewer, eventvwr.msc, for any errors on the workstations As Gelerira mentioned, you can run gpupdate to force an update. Policies should reapply on user logon (the User Configuration section of the GPO) and on computer startup (the Computer Configuration section of the GPO) so after a logon/restart they should definately reapply Are you sure your workstations are pointing to the server (judging from your scenario, I assume you have a single box which is running everything including AD/DNS)? MazX_Napalm
On the server install gpmc (search MS site). This give a better view of GPO's than ADU&C. It will also show which GPO's are applied and inherited, the settings for GPO and you can also run "GP Results / Modeling Wizard" Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/498682-group-policy/#findComment-587910699 Share on other sites
Joel
On the server install gpmc (search MS site). GPMC can be installed on XP, no need to add it to the server unless you do the majority of your work sitting in front of it. That's what adminpak.msi is for, you know. :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/498682-group-policy/#findComment-587916752 Share on other sites
MazX_Napalm
True. Sometimes the Policy Modeling has a RPC fit though if you run it from a client. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/498682-group-policy/#findComment-587917098 Share on other sites
