xampp help

hiya guys, i have an xampp server on my PC for testing use, and ive made a new site and i thought i would use cutenew php, it said you need too CHMOD the data folder, so i opened filezilla too do this and it doesnt CHMOD files?? ive tried googling it and it said it cant be done, can anyone help me, or if not give me a php news system with admin panel dont mind if it uses SQL or not

Which operating system are you using? If it's windows, you won't need to chmod I don't think.

You may just have to make the folder read-only, or the specific file in it read-only.

Also - you could get the trial version of CuteFTP - I know you can change the file attributes in that.

If you are on Windows and logged in as admin, you don't need to CHMOD.

Exactly right, problem is when you make it live because you don't have to CHMOD, it can be annoying knowing exactly what you ahevto CHMOD to get it working the same :laugh:

I had a problem where the server couldn;t find my text files to write on the images. You can just put your font file in the same folder as the script and set $font (using imagettftext();) to "/Arial.ttf".

ok well, im using windows and you say i dont need to CHMOD, why isnt it working :p lol

ive added <?php include (news/show_news.php) ?> and it still doesnt work, and yes there is news in the system just not showing on pages

Erm if its CHMOD causing the problem it would give you an error saying it could not include it due to insufficient permissions?

well i have FULL rights for everything because the server is only on my PC, well i need too get cutenews working ive been browsing there forums and nothing yet
