But she was my baby

They are still in the process of decided who's at fault, and whether or not to write the car off.

It's been a fortnight since the accident now, so I'm starting to become a little ****ed off.

That type of thing takes forever. I was in a wreck with a drunk driver 9 months ago and I'm finally about to see a settlement, and that was actually pretty quick compared to friends that have been in wrecks. The good news is i'm about to be Oprah rich.

I understand the process can take a long time, but the information the insurance company has held hasn't been relayed to me as soon as it could have been. As a result, it's causing unnecessary delays.

Not to mention the majority of their call centre staff are Indian. Really doesn't help calm customers when you have to spell every other word.

Bad news peeps, there is indeed a 250 user limit on custom leaderboards. I never thought we'd reach it but we have!

I've made a post on the mygamercard.net forums asking if there are any plans to increase the cap. However, seeing as the limit has been at 250 for a loooong time now, I'm not holding out much hope there. So, the question is, how shall we deal with this situation?

My own personal suggestion would be to prune a number of users from the very bottom of the table every so often. Unfortunate as that would be, this is a gamerscore leadboard after all so it seems somewhat fair that those with higher scores should be allowed in instead. What do you think? I'm open to hearing other suggestions before I go ahead.

I thought the same, but that doesn't see to be fair. However, I'm all for pruning inactive players that are on the list, but how are you able to gauge activity without viewing individual profiles?

You can't, and I'm not sure I value someone with a very low score over someone who might just be taking a break. It would be too difficult to judge.

Pab, that would be cruel. i believe in first come first served, unless as mathachew said we can tell if someone is no longer playing. otherwise leave it as is.

That seems less fair to me than pruning. I don't think a person who has been on the leadboard for a while yet only has say 100 points is as deserving of a spot as someone new who has thousands and would therefore likely be actively taking part in the group. If people were dropped they would be welcome back in at the next round of pruning, given they have increased their points enough.

Couldn't you just create another leaderboard and combine the two? Not literally, but you know what I mean.

That just wouldn't be practical. Though you could quickly work out the combined totals of the two groups, comparing yourself to other positions would no longer be realistically possible. And after all, that's what it's all about.

Congrats! I found the last mission to be too easy on Veteran, but Heart of the Reich on Veteran is the epitome of retardation in video games :D

Agreed, it was the stupidest but you know what, whatever. Game is not all that great but the ending was pretty good/sad

I don't mean to make it sound so serious, because obviously it's all just for fun. But we've got a problem (hitting the user limit) that I think needs a solution. Leaving things as-is would mean the leaderboard no longer represents the Neowin members with the best gamerscore, but merely those who signed up first. Over time that's going to leave an awful lot of people out and the (friendly!) competition will stagnate.

Thinking about my own suggestion more, there's obvious problems there too. How many people do you prune? What's to stop them coming back before someone else? How often do you do it?

To this end, it seems like manual management is the only way to go. I propose that those who want to join the leaderboard post their gamertag and current gamerscore in this topic (or PM me the same). I could then verify their score on Xbox.com, and if they have a higher gamerscore than the person who is currently #250 on the leaderboard, they take their place on the list. This seems the most fair way of doing things, with the only downside being the list might sometimes not be updated for a while.

Still happy to hear opinions on all this before I make a move. :)

Another possibility would be to crop members who have been banned from Neowin. After all, this is the Neowin leaderboard, if one has been banned from the forum, they don't belong to the leaderboard.

The problem is that that's going to be difficult to know who is who in the leaderboard: my bet is that the gamertag index is not complete.

And emptying the leaderboard from all its members and re-add ourselves would remake the first come first served problems ...

I thought about having two leaderboards: the Neowinians with more than 10K points, and the ones with less than 10K points and move the people from one to the other once they get promoted but that would be cumbersome and unfair to the people in the lower leaderboard. It's not because one has less than 10K that they are not good gamers.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • Apple finally brings the slider for Liquid Glass and many other changes by Aditya Tiwari Apple kicked off the official live stream of the WWDC 2026 annual developer event. The company began its latest wave of announcements with changes to the controversial Liquid Glass design language, which debuted last year across Apple's entire software ecosystem. A lot of people didn't like Liquid Glass when it first arrived on iPhone and other devices last year. The devices were plagued with transparency issues and whatnot. While Apple improved things over the year, it has now added a new Liquid Glass slider that lets you switch the transparency from clear to opaque. The sidebars now expand to the edge of the window. When you scroll the UI sideways, the refraction continues beneath the sidebar rather than being cut off at the boundary. Moreover, Apple has changed the way Liquid Glass is rendered across the system. There is a separation between different layers, which makes buttons in the toolbar stand out from the background. Apple said it "deeply appreciates" the feedback it received from users and has made adjustments to Liquid Glass.
    • FWIW, I've been using Helium on Linux and Windows since the first time it was mentioned here. Actually, maybe a day or 3 before, as I searched for it when I saw it mentioned on the MX Linux forums. Haven't had a single issue on either OS. Not bad for a beta.
    • See up until a few years ago y'all could get away with simply denying your war crimes, pretending it never happened. Unfortunately for you, it's the 2020s and Israel's genocide has been livestreamed in real time. You have to be dumber than a rock to think anyone still believes your propaganda. See the cat is already out of the bag. The world already knows who you are so do yourself a favor and just drop the facade. Bet it gets real tiring keep track of all the lies. Take some inspiration from Israeli ministers who boast on live TV they like massacring civilians. Every zionist accusation is after all a confession.
    • He's just reporting what Microsoft posted. https://msmessagecenter.com/MC1381119 It just means that Windows Defender updates will no longer be bundled into the monthly Cumulative Windows security update and will now be a separate download. They'll still be on Microsoft update of course but now they can be released faster.
    • Apple announces iOS 27 with no changes to the list of supported iPhones by Taras Buria At WWDC 2026 in Cupertino, Apple announced iOS 27, the next mobile operating system for compatible iPhones. The update focuses on tweaking and improving last year's iOS 26, particularly in areas like app launch time, Liquid Glass design, and more. Additionally, Apple has reworked Apple Maps with a significantly enhanced Flyover view for a much more realistic view. Apple also promises better performance, smarter search, new Health features, new parental controls, and more. The most important part is that iOS 27 is compatible with all iPhones that can run iOS 26. That means that even the seven-year-old iPhone 11 can run iOS 27 (supposedly better than iOS 26). iOS 27 will be available this Fall, with the first developer betas expected later today. You can follow the live stream here.
