After being on a month long hiatus, I'm finally back in the game playing groove with Assassin's Creed. Soon I'll be getting my hands on GoW2 and possibly the latest LotR game and Fear 2. I'm back! ....somewhat :D

i'm so honored that for all my efforts around here no one has noticed that i've been offline for almost three weeks due to work and stuff! i've dropped several places and expect to be out of the top 25 soon. such is life. but when i come back, there will be hell for all you slackers to pay.

Look at the bright side: the gamerscore between place 18th (UND3RxOATH) and you place 22th is only 447 points: that's only half a game. You'l get your rankings up in no time.

as for you vyk, you're still playing L4D? is it that good in your book? i mean, enjoyed it for a little while, but that was that.

Oh yeah, L4D night not be the most beautiful game around but it's really fun to play. You need to play with friends you know: you cannot win alone in L4D. The game is much more balanced since the last patch.

Wow. I thought I had a healthy sized gamerscore... Some of you guys have blown me out the water!

Ill have to pull out Avatar and TMNT to boost my score up a bit :p In all seriousness, I was thinking about getting Left 4 Dead but Ive heard its extremely repeatative. Someone want to shed some light for me? Thanks.

that's not bad D, congrats. the average is roughly 1000/month for most, so you're doing good.

jonny, at least you're feeling better and gaming on occasion - i haven't touched my 360 in three weeks! i'm cranky, suffering from blue thumbs and have no patience for losing my hard-won place in the leaderboard!

but thanks for the encouragement Vyk, i appreciate it. hopefully the games i'm stocking up on will suffice once i'm up and running again. in the meantime, i noticed you're almost at 38K...that's a good number!

EDIT: on the topic of L4D, i'd say it isn't as samey as you may think. it's quite entertaining, but even with friends is ultimately a short game. i'd say a couple of weeks are enough to get the most out of it. honestly the MP didn't do it for me - to abrupt and i just didn't get it.

Thanks for that!

I think I may be my first case of the rent/borrow and leave it at that. Im quite proud to say all the games on my gamercard are still on my shelf... but Im not sure if L4D will be one of them. We shall see :)

On the subject of gamerscore, Im hoping to break 20,000 by the end of the week. Im at 19,500 exactly so it shouldnt be too hard :)

Get this man in the leaderboard!

L4D is extremely repeatitive if you play solo. The game is really only fun to play with friends. There are only 4 campaigns and only 2 of them are playable in versus mode.

The 2 other campaigns will be unlocked in versus mode via a patch end of April. The game has some randomness, enemy are never placed the same way between the same campaigns.

Sometimes, the game is light on enemies, sometimes, it's just super-cheap and everything hits the fan.

So, if you're unsure, yes, try a rental. I was lucky enough to have plenty of friends playing it and there have been some really good events in that game.

Hit 60 K

Pulverized 60K, maybe? You're already 447 points above 60K ;)!

Edit: And you added 100 points while I was making this post!

isn't he in already?

I dont think I am. I only joined the forum a few days ago so...

Brilliant, thats pretty much what I wanted to hear. I might be lucky enough to borrow it from a friend, just to get a feel for the game. Then I might rent/buy to play along with him. Thanks :)

Haha, I think it might be a little while longer till Im at your level Neoadorable. :p But Ill take that as a compliment!

I bought Resident Evil on release day, but I agreed with a friend that Id wait for him and do it co op together. Im dying to play it aswell!

Wohoo, tacked on another 1000 within a week with Assassin's Creed. :D

I would have had 1,000 on that but I gave up after my kingdom flags glitched! 3 went missing! and my templars glitched 2 went missing! Very frustrating!

If i could ever get the time to do it, i've got several thousand points to get. Games that I've started but barely touched: Halo wars, hawx, tomb raider underworld, prince of persia and fear 2 multiplayer (almost done with the sp achievements). I've still got a few games that have been sitting on the shelf for over a year like blue dragon and eternal sonata, but if i'm gonna play an rpg i'll just finish the fallout 3 achievements. My score should be so much higher, i just need more vacation time. I really want to play through assassin's creed again after reading this thread, but that just won't happen anytime soon.

Oh yeah, forgot, I'll probably buy RE5 tonight when I get off work. That should hold my attention long enough to get a few hundred at least. I'd really like to break 45K by the end of the month. I've been at 43 since new year's.

    • Never had a problem with TPM and started using that many years ago in Win10. Through several motherboards and OS versions, it just does what it does without complaint. My games library doesn't even know it's there. Secure boot does a lot more than support anti-cheat, as it came along long before anti-cheat software. I've used it religiously since before I started using TPM, and I always liked it for being able to nullify virus contagions that try their best to come in underneath the firmware during boot, so that the OS doesn't see them, etc. That is its purpose, imo. I'll never understand why people who elect to use another OS feel compelled to run down Windows... I guess they need to do that to feel secure about their choices? I run Windows because it supports all the software (including games) natively that I want to buy, and I've never had to run down another OS to make me feel better about it. (Although it's certainly possible to do that, of course...) Win10 is on a ventilator atm, and Win11 is very close to being free, and I finally got to stop running StartAllBack as I moved to the Experimental/Dev channel and my 26300.8553 build supports the moveable taskbar and it's running fine at the top of the screen! Finally, my last major dislike of Win11 is being rectified! So, I'm not at all surprised to see Win11's share of the Steam survey hitting 70%.
    • I can answer about the Linux bit. I only used AMD GPUs. I currently have a 9060XT (8GB) that fits my needs, I'm not a gamer, so I don't need that much GDDR. But lately, NVIDIA has grown a lot in the recent years. Oh, the horrors of NVIDIA drivers not working. But they have been getting better. I know a lot of members onm here that are running cachyOS and other distros, and are fine with a 4090/5090 variants. Really, though, I would stick with AMD variants.
    • Everything they say you can already do yourself on the registry by changing some things.
    • Artist's renderings are so much nicer to view than the real thing, don't you think?
