BF2142 includes spyware

Recommended Posts

I dont care what it does, if I'm paying for a game I dont want to see ads - period.

I don't have a problem buying/playing a game that has ads in it as long as the price of the game is lowered to since they will be making money through ad revenue. The lower the price of the game the more copies they sell, the more copies the sell, the more players that will be available to view the ads then the more money that they can make from ad revenue. I refuse to pay $50 for a game that is ad supported...... $20 and I would definitely buy it.

Dear Friends,

I have just read and signed the online petition:

"Remove Spyware/Adware from EA Games"

hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition

service, at:

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/bf2142ad/

I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might

agree, too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider

signing yourself.

Best wishes,

Peter Keats (My signature is number 1571)

(p.s. If EA lose enough customers over this, then they may just reconsider the inclusion of spyware in the future.)

The ads at the start of DVD movies annoy me, as do the ones before the movie at the cinema.

Then shoot yourself. Ads about other movies dont annoy me at all because they show me similar films to the one I'm about to watch and this way Ill go see them/download them because they spark my interest.

I don't think he's talking about "movie trailers", those are ok. I think he means actual commercials before the movie, like Coke ads, Nike ads, ipod ads, etc. I dont want to see that crap when I'm paying to see the damn movie. One of the reasons I don't ever go to the movies anymore. Well, that and the excessively high prices that theaters seem to charge for a movie that may get a C at best (with the exception of the few that have been getting good reviews lately).

    • Microsoft now allows you to tweak Visual Studio to new extremes by Usama Jawad Visual Studio 2026 recently netted a powerful feature that finally allows developers to review Git Pull Requests (PRs) directly in the integrated development environment (IDE), without needing to switch to the browser. However, that's not all that Microsoft introduced in the latest version, as it also offered a useful way to customize the IDE to their heart's content. Although Visual Studio 2026 already provides lots of stock themes based on Fluent Design principles, Microsoft understands that people still want to customize them further according to their preferences. The IDE now offers a new configuration page for themes under Tools > Options > Environment > Visual Experience > Theme colors. This allows you to set hex color codes for accent colors, hover states, and more, and apply them without requiring a restart. The Redmond tech giant further says that: Microsoft is also offering granular color tokens that allow you to customize various UX elements like the tab header without impacting the rest of the shell chrome. Your themes are also stored in JSON format in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\18.0_xxxxxxxx\ColorThemes, which basically enables you to share it with others or override existing themes. This is a major improvement in terms of the user experience powering these customization capabilities. This is because extensions were required to replace the theme, and it was not very easy to make minor adjustments. This theme configuration UX solves this problem and is available in Visual Studio 2026 version 18.7, available here.
