Splinter Cell: DA | XBox360 | Help,FAQ [Spoilers]

Recommended Posts

Well, I just kind of figured that this game is bound to get a good amount of threads started about it.

Knowing how the Dead Rising thread kept going and going, I figured I would attempt to make a thread for "everything" related to Splinter Cell: Double Agent.

It is not an official thread yet, but if enough people participate in it, I will changed the title to reflect it as such.

So first off my impressions of the game. Amazing. Not much else to say. So far I am just so deeply into it it is not even funny. The 2 training missions had such a surreal feel to them. They for some reason reminded me of the dream sequences in Max Payne.

Right now I am currently on the 2nd level (not sure if the first level counted as a level or not.)

I will now admit I never beat a previous Splinter Cell game. I either lost interest eventually or just got frustrated playing the game itself.

I am going to beat this version. No doubt about it.

Already I have been a little "lost," here and there, but I eventually figured it out.

I figure this thread can be a "guide" thread if you will if anyone has or needs any help getting through a particular section.

I also figured some "tips" could possibly be offered as well, which leads me to one of the other reasons I started the thread...

What is the best way to pick locks? It takes me forever to do so, and basically all I do is wiggle the left stick until it unlocks, and I have no rhyme or reason behind how I wiggle it. So is there a way to actually pick the lock correctly?

Tomorrow or the next night I will hop onto the Multiplayer. Already got a taste of that from the Demo, and I loved it just based on that. So I imagine I am going to feel the same playing the retail version.

Thanks for the thread, Larry :)

Right now, I am at the 2nd checkpoint on the first mission. I'm loving the game and I've been a fan of SC since the first release. So far, this game has really been able to give an immersive feel...I love it!

The point I'm at is after the repel and then your teammate goes on his mission. I've made my way down to the ground but I'm not sure where to go from there. I grabbed the rock and figured I'd nail the guy around the corner of the building but everytime I try I get spotted. I'll keep trying though. I've never been one for guides and such, but if I get really stuck I'll come for help, hahaha.

Please, let's make it a point to black out all spoilers!

I have been a huge fan of Splinter Cell ever since the first one on the Xbox. I have beaten every single one of them (without walkthroughs bc it's so much better that way :p) and I will definitely be beating this one. I'm still debating whether to Rent this or Buy It as I've never really gotten into the Multiplayer aspect of the game and I'd rather spend my money towards Gears of War and R6: Vegas.

Anyway, I should be getting this game in a few days and will offer my 'expertise' in any way I can to those that may need help. :p

Excellent Point. For those who do not know, to do the spoiler code is as simple as just writing

["spoiler"] at the beginning and ["/spoiler"] at the end. Just remove the quotes. ;)

Not a problem. And it took me awhile to get past the first stage. A good hour. You will get it. No doubt. (Y)

Nice to know that you're having fun, I'm getting the game this weekend. This will be my first Splinter Cell game.

Enjoy.

I strongly suggest getting it, as the multiplayer, although without a doubt "dumbed" down, in this case it was a great decision. It has never been more fun to play.

What not gonna make it for all the versions? (PC most of all :p)

If was not sure if the versions are exactly the same, if they are, I have no problem doing that at all.

I want to get this game, but I am not sure if I should get it for the 360 or the PC yet it does look very cool :). Anyone have any suggestions?

i'd advise the 360 version:

Live

No hangs (will run as expected)

But then again you might have a :pinch: amazing computer so.. lol. (just looked at your sig but I still would reccomend the 360 version.)

I got the game and am on the second mission. Since it's my first splinter cell game i'm still figuring stuff out but multi-player rocks! I'm happy with my purchase so far

I haven't actually played a Splinter Cell game yet - no real interest, but I did download the demo for SCDA, which I actually haven't yet played either, but I look forward to getting around to it (I had a busy week this week, with 3 midterms, one of which is still tomorrow).

Okay, so I am confused about just what I needed to do to secure one specific objective in the 2nd mission, the prison, I completed every objective except one which is as follows...

At the end with the helicopter, it says that I helped Jamie escape, yet it says that I FAILED to rescue him from the guards??

So when where was I supposed to rescue him from the guards?

It is listed as a primary objective, yet I successfully completed helping him escape without rescuing him from the guards, so what gives? I would think if I did not rescue him I could not help him escape, but I guess he rescued himself from the guards? I am confused as to exactly what I had to do??

Anyone have any insight into this specific objective?

TIA,

Dirty Larry

when you go to the rooftop by climbing a pipe at the end of top floor of guardtower. You will see a guard is escorting jamie. ( climb up the pipe quick, while you are climbing the pipe , jamie says something is wrong).

At this point you can just run toward jamie and the guard will notice you and look back. Thats when jamie will kill the guard. Or when you are at rooftop, sneak behind the guard and knock off the guard yourslef.

I need some help...

I still can't figure out how to enter the ventilation shaft at the thermo plant. From what I can figure, I need to enter that room where there is a guard but everytime I try to enter (even with a stealth open), he hears me and starts to open fire. I always try to play SC without using the gun and there has to be a way to do this. I just want to know if I am on the right track? It appears this is the only way into the plant since there are guards all over the main entrance.

Thanks.

My copy arrived today. I've played SC since the first game, but never completed them. I always get distracted with the multiplayer or bored with the missions.

So far DA is amazing though, really liked how the first mission started off. Breaking the ice and pulling guards through it is awesome :D

Here's a simple one, if i loved Chaos Theory, how does this compare?

havent played much of either of them but from what i read in the gamespot review.... it stays true to the CT game with better visuals and new features.... plus the MP is awesome...

I just played it and played throught he first mission, i was having trouble controlling Sam until i realised i hadn't inverted the controls :p

So far i am very impressed with it. One problem though, either i am not listening properley or they don't really outline the objectives that clearly.

What are u talking about

I don't know exactly where u at but if you just opened a gate and you just past the power plant kinda thing then go strait climb up the ladder and there's a water tank climb up there again and slide thru rope when the guard's not looking.

Well i am kinda stuck, i am sure if i played it more i'd get round it but at the moment i'm confused.

Well i am on the third mission, i just completed the safe bit but now i am trying to do the NSA bits but when i get on the roof, all i can do is sneak, i can't knock people out. Am i to assume that i must sneak past the two guards and plant the bug?

    • Windows 10 IoT LTSC is supported until 2032, Windows 11 LTSC until 2029. So oddly enough the Windows 10 version is supported longer.
    • Latest Rufus update improves new Windows 11 install method by Taras Buria Pete Batard, the maker of Rufus, a very popular app for creating bootable Windows (and other OS) media, has released a new beta version of its app. Rufus 4.15 beta is now out, and while it offers no new features, there are all sorts of improvements and fixes, including for the new Windows 11 installation method that was introduced in version 4.14 in early May. The "Silent Windows 11 installation" is a new feature whose goal is to automate operating system installation. All you have to do is boot from the drive, and then Rufus takes over, doing all things for you, such as setting up a new account, skipping ads and prompts, and more. It is a very handy tool, but initially, it had some bugs and issues that required addressing. With version 4.15 beta, Rufus is fixing that, particularly a bug with installation failing at 75%, crashes on Snapdragon X-based PCs, and more. Here is the changelog: Rufus 4.15 beta is now available for download from its GitHub repository. If you have never used Rufus before, you can check out our guide here. It is a very useful utility to have, as it allows you to deal with plenty of Windows 11's annoyances, which are still there, despite Microsoft's ongoing efforts to fix them.
    • Microsoft fixes one of Excel Copilot's most frustrating limitations by Usama Jawad Microsoft began integrating Copilot into Excel a couple of years ago and has been upgrading it with new functionalities since then. While some changes have been controversial, Microsoft is hoping to win over users by allowing them to be more productive via Copilot. To that end, it has now announced a Copilot improvement that may actually be appreciated by people who use it regularly. Excel customers often use the Copilot prompt box to issue instructions to format and customize their data, but it can become quite tiring to keep repeating the same instructions again and again. Microsoft now allows you to define Copilot personalization rules for formatting, naming conventions, formulas, and report styles. These can be accessed via Settings > Personalization, where you can explain your rules in natural language like "Always format currency in USD with no decimals", and just let Copilot take care of the rest. Microsoft is going a step further in this direction by allowing you to set workbook rules too. These rules are stored as a .Rules sheet, and are preserved while the workbook is shared. This fosters collaboration while making sure that standard rules govern the Copilot editing experience across the organization. Other advantages of this capability include pointing it to specific examples, defining dynamic formulas, and referencing an entire sheet and asking Copilot to infer rules based on that. You can leverage this feature by opening Copilot in Excel, clicking on "+", and selecting Create workbook rules. If you have an existing .Rules sheet, you can simply start listing the rules in column A as well. Personalization features are available to all Copilot in Excel users across the web, Mac, and Windows. Meanwhile, workbook rules are currently being previewed for Windows and Mac customers on the Insiders channel. General availability is scheduled after a few weeks, but a concrete date is currently unknown. Overall, the Excel capability is quite similar to ChatGPT's memory features, which allow you to permanently store items in the AI model's context window.
    • Imagine you still haven't discovered Total Commander that is doing all those things for three decades already...
    • This sounds like underneath the nice marketing spin, either someone at Adobe got tired of their lazy devs and asked Microsoft to help them sort at least some of Adobe's ancestral spaghetti code to make it go faster, or Microsoft wanted Adobe's crap to run better on Windows to make it look better when compared to Apple, so they offered to intervene. Either way, GOOD.
