Resistance Fall of Man Downgraded to 720p

So what he works for Microsoft, that doesn't make him any less qualified to know what hes talking about or to voice his opinion. Everyone including Sony were making a big hoot about the fact the PS3 will do its "Full HD" named 1080p, now all the games are either being downgraded to 720p and/or downgraded in quality to fit 1080p and now all the Sony fanboys have either gone quiet or saying "oh you wont notice the difference" i think its quite funny, now go back to the Wii forum and wait for your glorified gamecube.

No it doesn't make him less qualified but it does put a slant on things. Kinda like watching an infomercial, you can't believe everything they say cause they have a biased financial agenda. Plus it's kind of funny you tell someone to go back to the Wii forum when 90% of the Sony boards is filled with MS trolls who have nothing better to do than bash Sony. Don't worry, I'm off now to the Mac and Linux boards to tell them how much their products suck. Now let the anti-Sony circle jerk proceed.

Circle Jerk? Is that like bukkake?

I have no "financial agenda" here... I'm a developer, not an evangelist. And I work in Windows which might as well be a seperate company as far as I'm concerned. That's not to say I don't have some bias - and you're free to frame my opinions in that light. However, my technical insights are no less valid because of who employs me.

It seems that lately the news media reporting negatively on the train wreck that the PS3 launch is becoming and it being posted on the boards here on Neowin is now being mistaken as Neowin being full of PS3 haters. Why don't you follow the links to all the news stories and complain at all the gaming sites that are originally reporting these news pieces?

But the only ones posting at Neowin have x360 gamer tags or PGR3 sigs.

The PS3 is basically doomed since the price is stupidly high, but most Sony users probably do get sick of hearing about every little issue that pops up, but I guess if it makes x360 owners feel better because Sony is doing worse than MS at this point in the next-gen wars, it hides the x360's shortcomings.

If the price was $100 less on the PS3, the x360 probably won't stand a chance, but Sony being Sony, will do their best to screw it up, even though Microsoft hasn't run away with the next-gen lead.

ohh please gimme a break it was like that with the 360, whenever something negative was in the news the PS3 trolls would be out in full, everyone is just voicing an opinion, i dont see no flame bait anywhere nor do i see trolling, if you cant bear to read negative news about your favourite stuck up ignorant company and its little expensive creation called the PS3 then you dont have to, atleast stop complaining about it.

Its not the fault of these 'MS TROLLS' that RFOM was downgraded to 720p ... its sonys fault for 'overestimating' and not delivering, now go whine someplace else.

Maybe the reason people with xbox sigs are posting in sony section is because Sony lovers are too ashamed to post about thier beloved console

So the ps3 will completely flop at the current price but if it drops $100 dollars the entire market will do a 180 and everyone will rush to buy a ps3? You honestly think people that are willing to pay $500 for a game console are that sensitive to price?

If it drops $100 then it's more reasonable to compare it with the Xbox 360 and then people can choose bast on other features. The marketshare would be a lot more even in that case.

...and to add to that, Sony was saying that their console was more expensive because it can do so much more. As time goes by, most of the things they said the PS3 could do better turned out to be not true. So now you have 2 consoles that look very similar in gameplay but one is cheaper. Now that Sony has run out of their "my console is more expensive because it's better" argument, they're going with "sure they're the same but if we twist the numbers it seems like they're priced the same too so please consider us."

(throwing out the core systems, as no one really wants them anyhow)

The PS3 would still have more features, while users may not want BR or Wifi, those are already there, if you want those on the x360, you're back at PS3 pricing, but still would have a smaller HD, no BT, no HDMI, and no card reader unlike the prem. PS3.

Drop a $100 of the premium and core PS3's, and more people would take notice. How much, who knows? The x360 isn't exactly setting the world on fire at $400, but the PS3 does have some additional features over the x360, plus it may have better game support than Microsoft. PC ports and whatnot really don't set my world on fire either.

I don't know about that, I think that may be a little bit of a stretch. XNA has been pretty much accepted by the majority of developers as being a superior development tool/platform in comparison with PS3's.

Sony has never made great compilers, and MS should, considering all of their experience in that area, but looking at the brunt of the x360 library, it just seems to be a lot of PC ports and existing franchises. It's the same argument that people make against the PSP - PS2 ports and the like, the x360 some decent games, but nothing spectacular and nothing worth buying the system for, and even with the year head start, I haven't seen anything improve.

The PS3 is out of my price range, and I really don't trust Sony at the moment, not after their double talk on the PSP and PS3. I like the PSP, but they've handled it worse than I thought they would have at this point.

Its funny reading one sided arguments. I mean there is nothing to argue about here at this point all I am waiting on is Nov.17 launch.

If I'm not mistaken, XNA is still in beta and not yet usable by developers? Developers need time to really take advantage of and base a whole game from XNA. Thus why there are mostly ports on the Xbox 360 so far. Either way, it's still fairly early in terms of the relative life of the console but some great titles are just over the horizon and the next couple months are full of top quality titles.

As far as things improving, there hasn't been too many sequels yet on the Xbox 360 (minus a few exceptions) to show any improvement. But those that have had sequels definitely did show improvement. For example, I think NBA 2k7 has improved a considerable amount (graphically, at least) over it's previous title. Tony Hawk is also another excellent example.

Developers just need time, and with the costs of developing games skyrocketing nowadays, developers are much less likely to take risks when creating games.

^^^Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe Marble Blast Ultra is wholly based on XNA Architecture. Granted it's much less work than say a full game, but the tools are out there to be used by developers.

Yea, I wasn't sure. It could very well be out, but I thought it was still in beta because of this. I guess that's different though, for indie developers I presume.

    • I and many others did not vote to get out of the E.u because of Putin or Farage, we did so for our own reasons. You don't have to tel me what my own did or did not do when it comes to the E.U. The EEC is or was the European Economic Community, a different beast to what the E.U is now.The EEC was a mainly about trading, the E.U have gone far beyond that and as I have said before, is now more of a United States of Europe. The U.K did not vote to join a United States of Europe. Anyway, they did not want us in there in the first place, Charles de Gaulle stopped us joining as he claimed we didn’t agree with the core ideas of integration. He was not wrong and that is why we voted out of the E.U when the time came. I was not old enough to vote the first time. My only regret is that we did not have the referendum years ago and got out years ago. If we rejoined, we would have to agree to join the Euro and no doubt Schengen, agree with freedom of movement, we have enough problem with people coming over here as it is. i have no problem with people coming over here if they work and don't try to push their way of life onto us. The E.U has a currency, freedom of movement, an anthem a flag, a parliament, well they are there, not sure if they do anything. Don't sound like something that is just for trading. Oh yeah, also wanted a euro Army. How many stupid rules have the E.U made that we had to follow? I doubt I will see the Uk rejoin the E.U, which suits me. Oh yeah, my partner is Polish, she came over here before Poland joined the E.U and she got fed up of people just coming over here with ease, while she had to struggle. She is now a British citizen and have been for a fair few years
    • Hello, Paul. Thanks for the editorial. It was interesting. I'm going research more into the app and its concept. Of course, if you know me at all, you know that I'd say your articles needs some editing! I a;ways do, don't I? For instance, the article occasionally mentions a concept before defining it, e.g., relays.
    • Screamer is 50% off on Steam, making it £24.99 here in the UK: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2814990/Screamer/ You might remember the series from the mid 90s / early 2000s, this new game is also by Milestone who created the older games.
    • U.S. partially reverses Anthropic AI ban for Mythos but keeps Fable 5 off the market by Karthik Mudaliar Anthropic says that the U.S. government has finally allowed it to restore Claude Mythos 5. But of course, there's a catch. The rollout is again for a limited set of U.S. organizations that operate and defend critical infrastructure. The company announced this in a post on X (formerly Twitter). This does not mean that Anthropic's latest frontier models are back to normal availability. Fable 5, which was a tuned version of Mythos 5 for public release, remains unavailable. Anthropic said that it is still working with the government to expand Mythos 5 access and make Fable 5 available again, but there's no timeline. Reports from Bloomberg and Reuters say that this decision actually came through a letter from the U.S. Commerce Department. According to Reuters, this would allow more than 100 companies and institutions access to Mythos 5. Reuters also reported that Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s letter removes the need for export licenses for approved companies’ non-US citizen employees, as well as Anthropic’s own non-US citizen employees, while restrictions remain for organizations outside the approved list. Anthropic isn't alone with this kind of controlled rollout. OpenAI's newest model family, GPT 5.6, was announced just yesterday, but isn't available for everyone yet. In its announcement, OpenAI also said that access to these models is initially limited to a select group of trusted partners and organizations, with broader access planned later this year. Both of these cases show that frontier AI launches are no longer just ordinary product releases and more like slow and vetted deployments shaped heavily by the U.S. government.
