786 DDR333 or 512 Dual DDR400

just bought a pair of 256mb DDR400 rams , and i was already having 256 DDR333 ...

so now i am confused which is best ,

to have all rams avialable but have to run them at DDR333 with 786mb

or

to have only the pair i got 256mbx2 at DDR400 and dual channel

which will give me better preforamnce...

Test both you don't have anything to loose exep few hours at max.

Test in your games/app that you use everyday and in 3DMark / PCMark

I think when gaming you'll be better off with the 512 @ 400 Dual'd, but in general usage and multitasking, the 768 MB will be better (Y), as NI3MOR said, the test is your friend.

That's on XP, on Vista, I can say the 768 is the best option.

It's possible that you get the DDR333 RAM at 400 speeds if you do tweaks with the RAM timing, I've done it without any problems. But it depends on the RAM itself.

I'd say 768MB @ DDR333
