PS3 Controller Interface and Game Load Times

Recommended Posts

The interface is fine, i like it, but i prefer the general minimalistic look anyway, I've never used the 360's so i cant say if i think its better or worse.

From the Video, the only load time i actually saw was about 28 seconds long wile it loaded the data on the hard drive, which is hardly that bad, the rest were copyright screens etc. though there could quite possibly been a loading behind them.

Most of you seem to be whining because you get the chance to about the ps3 :p

And moaning about the sped of which the PS button menu comes up, well that's just sad, due to its placement I would prefer to have to push it down for a second or so than just come up if i accidentally hit it. And i doubt if and when you use it your going to miss the extra second of your life gone.

Yeah but its annoying, they keep papping on about how amazing the Blu-Ray is and how much of a good decision it was to put it into the machine so it would benefit the games, when in reality its quite the opposite and they are using the ps3 as a trojan horse to force Blu-Ray onto the market.

I've been saying that a lot. Everyone is shouting STFU. They think because it's made by Sony it's the Holy Grail of video games. Hopefully it (BD) will be another failed format.

Also, I believe NBA Live 07 comes out in December for PS3... therefore it's probably not totally finalized yet.

It's an EA game. Even when their games are finalized they're still not finished.

Honestly, I could care less man. God knows I've enjoyed all my Playstation and Playstation 2 games. My Gamecube collects dust and the Xbox I have only a few titles. I was actually going to wait for the 360 to drop in price before making my purchase but seeing as Oblivion will be available for PS3, I'm finding little reason to want the 360 anymore. I mean, PS3 will allow me to play my old games, buy games that are hard as hell to find (Suikoden II for one) on the online store, bigger hard drive, a high-definition player, and a promise for a whole wide variety of new games to come.

The 360 isn't compatible with all the Xbox games (like they promised, but what do I care? they didn't have very many games I liked so meh), bigger hard drive will cost you more, HD player will cost you more...

So in all, you'd still pay the equivalent of a PS3. Only other thing that's got my interest is the Wii. It too will offer the good ol' games as well as a whole new way of playing with their Wiimote and nunchuck controller. I think getting the PS3 and Wii will be the best bet: old with the new.

I may get scorched for my post, but I really don't care. It's about the games for the most part, and I've yet to look at a game on Xbox or the 360 and be like,"I WANT THAT!!" :\

NBA Live 07 for the PS3 was cancelled sorry.

The game you're seeing in that video is NBA 07, which is developed by Sony, not EA.

Oh, and practically no loading times ARE possible, even with optical discs. Remember that Tony Hawks game for XBOX and GCN? or Wind Waker? Or Metroid Prime? Those all had very small to no loading times. Apparently, the Wii also improves loading times, to the point where some games don't actually have loading times...

I don't care if a game has loading times; I care when I have to stop playing because of it, while staring at an ugly screen telling me it's loading. The way they worked out the loading on Metroid Prime was an excellent example of how it should be done.

Honestly the only game where I felt the loading had a huge impact on the gameplay is Oblivion. I really hope they managed to make the PS3 more streamed in order to lessen the loading.

Don't get me wrong the game was f'in amazing but still.. The loading was a big issue.

The way they worked out the loading on Metroid Prime was an excellent example of how it should be done.

Exactly (Y) Zelda: Wind Waker is another example. It doesn't have loading times at all.

Overall, the GameCube games have very short loading times.
