FINPJENN
Hi everyone, I have signed up especially because of this post. I am debating whether or not to take out a TN Plus subscription, but I have found the TN site to be very vague in terms of what you get with the subscription. Does anyone have a complete list of software which is available through the subscription? Also, would an MSDN subscription provide you with more software? Many thanks Phil P.S. Great post. Zyphrax
Zyphrax, thanks for your reply.Has anyone ever had any problems getting hold of extra keys? Thanks, Phil How it works On Technet you have a section called "Product keys". When you select it you get a long list of Microsoft Products (similar, but shorter than the list I provided earlier), some products with product key and some without product key. The ones with product key are general product keys, not specificly bound to you. To get a product key for the rest of the products you have to select the product and hit a Generate button. After that a unique product key will be generated. In Technet you get 1 (and only 1) product key per product. When a product requires activation (like XP, Office, Vista) you can activate up to 10 PCs (bound to the hardware of the machine) with it. So you won't get 10 unique serials for e.g. Vista Ultimate, you can activate 10 PCs with the same product key. If you find it really necessary to activate more than 10 PCs (or wish to recycle an activation), then you can call Microsoft to request an 11th activation or to reset a previous activation. Remember the Technet program is meant for testing-purposes only :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/516423-help-with-technet-plus-direct-subscription/page/2/#findComment-588295151 Share on other sites

FINPJENN
Also, just out of curiosity, if money was no object and you had to choose between MSDN Premium and TechNet Plus, which would you go for any why? Zyphrax
Have a look at this: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/aa718661.aspx MSDN is far more focussed on development. But it seems that they offer much of the same. I would prefer Technet, because of the 10 activations of 1 product. But that's probably because I currently have Technet, and I'm not that familiar with MSDN premium.
