NFS: Carbon - good controller to use?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I\'ve got NFS: Carbon and like usual, I can\'t really stand using the keyboard in any driving games - especially with drift as the turning is far too sharp. I have tried using a SmartJoy PLUS adapter to use my PS2 controller but the x axis is always out whichever PS2 controller I use, even worse after calibrating. :pinch:

So, what I would like to know is if there is a good controller I could use that is a bit like the PS2 layout but will work better on PC. I would also like to try it on other games such as GTA now and then if possible, but I\'ll stick to keyboard and mouse for Battlefield ;)

Thanks in advance.

For racing games, i would say Xbox360 wired pad with custom drivers are the best. Just because the triggers will act as a pedals which makes racing a whole lot more fun.

With the custom drivers you can also turn the triggers into buttons, so it will have the exact same layout as a PS2 pad.

Ok X360 wired pad is USB and has MS drivers for it but they're not as good as these XBCD 360 drivers.

Here is a good site to get them from and a great tutorial on how to get it all setup, also contains a few profiles too.

well i love my X360 controller. plug in, it'll ask for drivers... tell it to try windows update... that's it :p

the XBCD drivers never worked well for me. i know that with them you can set a deadzone for the controller... but it's not the official thing :p

Yeah the dead zone option is brilliant as EA set it to low in the NFS games so the car will pull right.

I have never had a problem with the XBCD, i have two profiles one for original setup with a higher dead zone and one where it changes the triggers into buttons.
