Whats The File Extension Of A Folder File

do folder files have file extensions???? i ask this cause i have a file thats missing an extension and im pretty sure that it is a folder. so i was wondering that i could change the file extension to the extension of a folder and that way windows will recognize it.

Folders do not have extensions as stated by Doca Cola. You may determine if an item is a file or a directory in one of two manners:

1) Right-click the item and then select Properties

2) The Type will be listed as File Folder

or

1) Start->Run, cmd

2) Change to the directory the item is located

3) At cmd prompt, enter "dir /ad" to list the directories or "dir /a-d" to list the files. If the item is a directory, it will be listed with the first command.
