Right click the files, choose properties.

Click the security tab, then click advance. Click the Owner tab. Click Edit highlight your name and click Ok, it'll give you a prompt.

Click ok untill you get back the the original security tab in the file properties.

Highlight your name and click edit, in the new window, highlight your name and then click full control in the lower box, click ok.

Do this for all the files and you wont get an "access denied' error.

The patch by Rafael should be compatible with other languages too, but Im not totally sure but it SHOULD work.

Thanks for the help all done now!!!

Has anyone got a mod of this theme but with the orb start button??? (like the standard aero theme)

I prefer the orb start button!! Nice theme though!

I actually got off my ass and did it myself.

I'm hoping -Hiroshi- doesn't mind but I'll attach my mod (Longhorn B1 + Orb Start Button)

Nah I dont mind at all, I had a version sitting around on my PC, but I didn't want or need to release it.

Okay I'm having a problem...

It will not let me replace aero.msstyle for some reason. It says I need permission?

Follow these steps:

- First switch to Windows Classic (the classic Win9x interface that looks like utter crap in Vista) via Windows Color and Appearance > Open classic appearance properties...

- Before continuing, make a backup of Aero.msstyle.

- In the Aero folder, right click Aero.msstyle, click Properties. Click the Security tab.

- Click Advanced. Go to the Owner tab, click Edit, select your user name, and click OK. Dismiss all dialog boxes. You should be back in the Aero folder.

- Open up the Properties dialog box for Aero.msstyle again. Go back to the Security tab, and click Edit. Click Add. Type in your user name, and click Check Names. It should change the text to <<COMPUTERNAME>>\<<USERNAME>>.

- Select your username, and tick Full Control. Click OK.

Once done, try overwriting the file.

Okay.. That worked, and I replaced aero.msstyle, but when I apply the modded theme it doesn't work. All I get is something that looks like Classic with a thick border around it...

You need to hack your uxtheme.dll file. Here's the file for x86 and x64. Before replacing files, remember to stop the Themes service.

Well, that didn't work at all :(

Tried that Uxtheme Patch thingy, and it messed up so badly. I had to run my computer in safe mode with commant prompt (because everything, litterally, wouldn't work) so I could delete the new (Uxtheme patched) files, and rename the old (**.old.dll) files back to their original names so that my computer would work again.

I think I need help still... lol, Cause that did not work at all :(

What version of Vista are you running (As in Beta/RC or final RTM)? The UxTheme patch is designed for the final RTM version of Vista.

    • It's time to say goodbye to Edge and switch back to Firefox. There's no way to disable the ugly rounded corners that appear everywhere. Not even on the page frame. No one uses screens with rounded corners, you idiots.
    • Being on Github makes it more trustable since I can see the code at any point.
    • Gen Atlas is the next game from Shadow of the Colossus creator, this time with giant robots by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The mind behind widely well-received games like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, showed up at Summer Game Fest today, and that was to reveal his latest project. Being developed by genDESIGN, Gen Atlas is incoming with what looks to be plenty of mech and robot action. Watch the reveal trailer, which makes not much sense, above. The game will have players waking up on an abandoned planet where deserted facilities and grand designs from the original creators remain. Soon, they will stumble upon a colossal robot, from which players gain access to the power to change the world. "Across an endless expanse of time, the remnants of those forgotten constructs begin to move once more," adds the studio. The gameplay snippets seen in the trailer show the player character climbing giant robots (as expected from the creator), while also controlling these titans somehow as well. This is a fully single-player open-world adventure. “The team and I are grateful to all the fans who’ve been eager to learn more about our game,” says Fumito Ueda, CEO and creative director of genDESIGN. “Their passion and enthusiasm has always motivated and inspired us. We hope to share an experience that inspires moments of quiet wonder and discovery.” Before gaining the name Gen Atlas, Ueda first announced this project back in 2024 with the codename Project Robot. Interestingly, this will be a project being funded and published by Epic Games, which should mean that a Steam release is out of the question. Gen Atlas will be releasing on Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • How backwards can you have it? Yes, Linux was gaining because of Linux handhelds and the push for gaming compatibility, but that's not desktop users, it barely converts anyone who owns a SteamDeck, though it helps for those who wanted to do it, but anyways, the AI+RAM debacle helped Linux because people can't easily upgrade their PCs easily and many hate AI so they'd be incentivized to try Linux.
